  1. That's more than a little absurd. China was big, not necessarily powerful. China used to be more interested in security and being left along, and to do trade and business.

Easy, American politicians ( Mostly Republicans ) got bribed and subverted the same way the US bribes and subverts third world nations ... basically the American people sent all their money to China, and China sent some of it back to pay off our supposed leaders. The other front of this war is that China has its own populations in other countries, where many have loyalty to China and not their new country.
