  1. Well, it could be he was a postal worker, and saw the orphan package on the steps and thought someone might steal it, so he grabbed it and kept it in his car. Maybe he was a thief, or maybe he was going to take back the next day? For theft you have to prove intent.

  4. Krim .... thanks for pointing that out. Could the package have already been opened and left there by theives who considered whatever was in it to be not worth taking? Even so, at this point I think it is the least to do to fire this guy from the Post Office. I'd go back and monitor his phone to see if he got a call from other Postal Workers telling him to grab the package.

  6. OK, just saying it might be possible. Consider ... maybe the package was left on the porch all day in a bad neighborhood where a lot of packages go missing. Could he tell what the delivery company was? If the lights were off in the house. maybe someone was on vacation? So, if you were a concerned citizen you might pick the package up knowing it was to be delivered. How could somone tell? Was the package in his car unopened, or was it in his house opened and being used? Admittedly, it is likley the guy is a thief ... so look at his background ... maybe seach his house for other packages. Then what do you do if he is an exemplary citizen with no arrests or crimes?
