Oh God ... sure, let a thousand flowers bloom! This guy makes some great points and this is a good talk, but I don't really know where he is coming from or what China's intentions are. He says they are against corruption but the best and most corrupt people I have ever seen in corporations are Chinese working together to take over departments in American corporations. So, overall, I don't know what to make of this, though some thoughtful points were raised.
1
Huh, maybe I'm slow but I missed the connection to windmills ... extrapolated to environmentalists ... at what time do you see this please? I like your comment "the general impairment of the area of the brain that stands for analytical reason".
1
Yeah, I think this theory is nonsense, it's a combination of many things. In America there is no alternative but to work in a normal job where most people get ripped off ... that is most of the people who show up on these broad statistics simple have nothing to save, and no teaching about it, while bombarded with negative messages every day. I think it's cultural.
1
this pompous windbag goes on about science he fails to see that life in finite, and that effort put into training oneself and specializing takes away from understanding oneself, so we get a certain kind of world, specialized like his famous ants and bees, insects. i like science but i don't want to be an insect. there needs to be some middle ground, or what really needs to happen is not to tell people to go as far as they can but to freely spread their knowledge parallelly! ;-)
1
this is like the pretense of being god and nothing disgusting or worldly can touch you ... obviously false. men take power over women because women are more associated with menstruation and cleaning up poop and vomit. this is just another trick we use to screw with each other. the indian untouchable example is a really inhuman example of this. this is wrong and is nothing less than destructive social programming.

Was this not published quite a while ago. I was expecting an update from the notification yesterday, but it was the same video? Good video though, lots of interesting ideas that show all this technology is not going to help anyone to be happier or more human. The thing is that a future without secrets is not really true, it's a future in which reality will be manipulated to an extremely fine tuned, political and economic way.
1
There never is any solution in what these guys have to say ... other than send money to whomever is speechifying!
1
Probably New Zealand. No country really does good ... we are destroying the planet - all of us. so the one that does the least is probably the best for the world.
1
yeah, it's called confirmation bias.

Making Africa Great has a peculiar ring to it these days.
1
a good thing to remind people of … if the good people did not have the overwhelming force we would have a completely different world.
1
Yes, China's model cannot be exported ... so they just absorb other countries, such as Tibet, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Nepal, Burma, etc. Believe me, just because China is not as militarily active in the world as the US does not mean that they are not thinking and planning about the most efficient way to combat the US and to export, or impose their system .. which by the way is racist in a way the US/West system is not. Can we see this guy as a PR guy for China?
1
> Coding what the humans are doing is impossible because the human brain does not process data in binary bits. That has not been established yet since there is no model, although you might want to look at the human connectome project, and maybe stop trolling all my posts.
1
It is well "formulated" and it is good to hear from a Chinese about the Chinese system. Maybe both countries could have more conversation and find things they both can do better ... but you are making the mistake of just taking massive growth statistics and translating that to "success". The US has no Ai Weiwei - that is someone the government oppressed for expressing opinions and making art.

Red apparently is not like blue. Blue light is a cue for early morning, red just does not have the same effect.
1
Considering what he is saying it's worth thinking about, but the trends on most of those stats that he mentioned are heading the wrong way - and the political system is inflexible and getting reactionary - while the global supply system is getting brittle and susceptible to collapse - or it requires more energy to keep it all going, and there is more risk.

Yeah, your theory would mean perpetual motion
1
I do really respect China for having the courage to implement its "one-child policy", this should be world law, or anyone who seeks to have children should be allowed one free that their country pays for and invests in, but after that all costs should be on them.
1
This guy is smart, but it is a pity that he cannot touch anything political because it would fry the whole theories of conservatism and we would never hear from him again.
1
They can make a fusion reactor, that just means a place where atoms fuse together in a reaction. they just cannot make it emit more energy than it takes in for long reliable stretches to generate power reliably and safely yet.

This is a BS vanity video for America. Russia does not hate democracy per se, the hate the US and for the same sometimes justified reason many other countries do as well - because we cause them trouble. Until recently Americans have had no idea that Russia even operates in the US. Now we are told Russia interferes in our elections, but there is not much proof offered at a time when the trust in American intelligence agencies is at an all time low. Russia could have been doing a lot in the last 30-40 years and we would have no idea. There are a heck of a lot more Russians in America than there are Americans in Russia. Russians are smart and on a budget. unlike the US who bloats our military budget and thinks the fat makes us stronger, Russians have to mind every ruble. There is a lot of thought that has gone into the Russian hacking, assuming it is Russia. I think it just as likely that the Russians are taking the fall for extreme-right-wing Americans who are trying to pull a coup d-etat on the current government to bring about a fascist state, to which Russia may have different reactions to. But Russia has looked at and desconstructed the systems of the West, and we could learn a lot from their assessments of our weaknesses, but it is not necessarily because they hate democracy, because who says America has democracy anyway?

@TheIslammiracle >> Theres no such thing as a non-violent weapon. How about the truth! ;-)

Well, I doubt you can go right into the middle of a vast desert and get this to work, you have to encroach from the borders in, wouldn't you think. I've been to Arizona, and I'm not sure we really know the whole story about the climate in the American Southwest ... there were vast numbers of Native Americans living there at one time, so it has been decertified. Agree, desert does not have to be bad, but dead land is, like the Sahara, and that was man made over centuries.

steel is an expensive component ... how much does it cost to put this all over a country like the US? How many millions of tons of steel to do this all over the US? How much do steel prices rise for everyone else? Mow much more expensive is this than regular roads? Then, highway porosity is not the only problem with drainage, there needs to be somewhere for the water to flow to. It's not automatically going to stay dry if there are low places where water collects now, right?
1
I got that point, but to be the devil's advocate for a moment, and I'm happy he made the best of his situation, but is the "real" lesson to be learned hear to pay attention and be conscious about what we do to our bodies. That lesson can apply to many more areas of life than just art, or embracing the shake, and if people paid more attention to what is really happening in the world it might actually get fixed, because many things are way out of balance and no one seems to notice - beforehand?
1
Internet came from DARPA net. Originally some of the ideas were from GM and other private companies who tried to find ways to get disparate things to talk to each other ... but the government standardized it and made it work.
1
Is the issue really privacy, or that we 1 - want to have control over who sees our information 2 - do not want out information to be exploited for someone else's gain 3 - do not want our behavior to be inferred or analyzed so we can be manipulated. Pursuing some kind of idealized vision of privacy is impossible, like trying to build a dam in the middle of a raging river ... the best path is to find the problems and figure out how to solve the biggest ones first, but that requires that the discussion open up to all, and the Corporations do not want that, they want weak, fragmented stupid people, and they exploit ttheir information to bring that about. So maybe before we talk about privacy we have to talk and do something about the corporate control of the government

Very interesting ... can you point to a article or some information on how mushrooms derive energy from radiation? I've never heard that before and have trouble conceiving how that would work?
1
This sounded interesting ... so I signed up and began Spanish lessons on Duolingo. The first three days were pretty good, and then all of a sudden it expected me to be fluent in Spanish and I was completely lost. Maybe in another 10 years they might get it right, but until then I'd be interested to see what other's experiences have been. I'd have to rate it a 1/5.
1
I destest Donald Trump but I don't have any regard for a Chinese that comes to America and insults our President considering if an American did that in China, he would be kicked out of China immediately, and no one would hear about it.

@rorymcleod2088 LOL!

@horatio59 It's capitalism when it suits the right wing, and it's not capitalism when it doesn't suit the right-wing. It's become a meaningless word per se, so you have to dig into the context of the one who is using the term. If you are unwilling to do that, you just waste your own time and everyone else's as well.
1
Raptor Jet It's all capitalism, the difference is in the regulation. Democracy/Socialism is the controls on the capitalist system. If there is not vote, if there is no citizen or worker representation it is tyranny, facsism. Those are the two poles of capitalism.
1
Raptor Jet No code there. You don't get to decide what I say, I said it, plain and simple, and in words anyone, even you, could understand. All the other forms of democracy and capitalism are doing better than the US. The US problem is nothing but massive corruption that has twisted our version of capitalism into something that has taken us down to where there is hardly a national metric that we do not come in lower than every other democracy nation in the world.
1
Raptor Jet If I was spouting ignorance you'd be lapping it up as that is all you seem to deal in.
1
Raptor Jet Spoken like a true Republican. NewsMax much?
1
Raptor Jet Not too bad. Happy I don't need to waste my time raging on YT.
1
@tgr5772 God can only "rule" the minds of people who have been wrongly programmed with it.
1
@tgr5772 I was programmed to know not but keep and open mind and pay attention. Can't quite be a believer or an atheist.
1
Raptor Jet My feeling is that capitalism is the system and socialist vs. fascism are the two poles of the issue. If you see that a country or system is not democratic, like the US of late, then it is more fascistic. If you want to lessen a fascist system you create more democracy.
1
@ML6103 There is a great book called "The End Of The Megamachine". It is a great book ... with a mediocre to bad title. But it is the only book I've read that makes the point that democracy evolved as a counter to Capitalism, Feudalism, Tyranny and Libertarianism - but mainly Capitalism because that is what all oppressive systems that kick out people and take their land, labor, futures, and lives for fun and profit. Maybe the book does not state it that forcefully, but that is the message I got from it. That is what the SOBs on the Right want to justify and go back to.
1
I doubt anyone cares if our negative feelings about the obese are any more in error than our feelings about minorities or women or any of the BS nonsense that runs our society. It's whatever generates the most money for nastiest people that's what gets the attention and defense. We have known all kinds of stuff about our unhealthy activities that are promoted or ignored, and immoral or unjust ... no one seems to care or know what to do about it.
1
we need to go to war with Mexico before their drug lords buy up our country … if they have not already … and declare war on us.
1
yeah, it's called confirmation bias.
1
It's not like the whole planet and everyone on it has not made errors that have brought the whole planet to a crisis point?
1
To make life all about money and status American culture tried to stomp everyone outside of a few elite groups into obsessions about staying alive and struggling - to divide people up. It is how we make this miserable system work to keep the status quo.
1
Except these days the capitalist class is smarter, they do not try to protect their industries, they protect their capital by buying the new industries and controlling the technology - they do not need to protect any technology, they just buy it.
1
Come on, the country that actually gets serious about thinking about its peoples' mental health will either take over the world very very quickly, or be attacked and destroyed immediately by the others. Making people miserable is the prime method of violence and oppression used to maintain the status quo. If people who had complaints weren't disabled in some way they would cause society to grind to a halt, this is just accepted.
1
But what is the point of having all these cattle, the evidence to meat being a big problem for humans in large quantities? What we really should do is to return the planet to a wild garden while people live in very concentrated cities ... then we can visit the wilderness just go out the front door of the city ... we can farm and eat and harvest food that is wild, no pollution. no problem, plenty of jobs for everyone, plenty of fresh air and with the wireless internet keep us connected.
