roidroid You can "say" anything you want, doesn't mean it makes sense or is true. The Turing test is nonsense and doesn't measure anything in any scientific way. A human being can apply what he or she learns in an abstract sense to other problems. Your example of the pendulum data ignores the setup programmers have to do to configure the machine to understand the data. Whenever you really look at these programs or results they are illusion, they are programmers setting things up to do do things that appear to be indirect, but they could all be predicted before the program is run. You are listening to marketing content from people who make money working on this stuff, the words sound impressive, but it's like then your printer stops working because it is no paper in it and you say "it thinks it's out of paper" you are anthropomorphizing behavior that you have no business describing that way.

This is not learning, it is more of a consolidation of statistics with rules applied to them. The machine is not learning anything, it does not know what it is dealing with ... it doesn't understand context, or use something learned in one area to its advantage in another - not does it even understand "it's advantage".

Let's hope they do not blow this and we all have to battle Terminator robots to try to keep alive.
