I thought Pol Pot was in Cambodia?

@kayem3824 BS. The Palestinians were allied with the Nazis in WWII because they hated Jews. Racists, terrorists, authoritarians and refuse peace and to recognize Israel.

Hahaha, well there is a can or worms. I'd like to hear that too. I wonder if it would be as equally cheap and superficial.

5:20 - YNH describes the Russian model as not a coherent political ideology, a small group at the top monopolizing power and wealth. Please - that could describe most of the world, particularly the USA which has been pushing this NATO expansion. France and Germany vetoed NATO expansion to Ukraine, but the US has been pushing it consistently since almost forever. I understand the bias, but I am looking for on bit of information that tells us that YNH has some understanding of Russia, or why he doesn't think that is necessary to talk about.

@FG-vf7pq Yes, thank you, I misunderstood you.

I lost a lost of respect for Yuval Noah Harari for engaging in this rather cheap propaganda video.

6:30 - Russia is a rich country but the people are poor ... because the US has strangled Russia's global access to the world economy - as it has to Cuba and Venezuela ... so because this strangling strategy of the USA's has worked pretty much YNH seems to think that is a reason to attack Russia's system ... so if that is true ... why is China who we have done the opposite of strangling doing so well, even though it has a similar plutocratic authoritarians system. China is harder to conquer than Russia. Russia is hugely rich - the biggest country on Earth, and one of the least populated. it is a target for American imperialism because of that, whereas China is a nation we do business with.

Show me a reported incident of the Ukrainian people throwing Molotov cocktails at Russian tanks? Is there one? Rather than quibble about the fantasies both sides tell themselves, or picking one or the other, why not explain why Russia perceives the West as hostile and promoting aggression towards Russia Apparently there was a push by W Bush and Obama to split Ukraine away from Russia MILITARILY and have it join NATO. YNH dismisses all of that by just declaring what the issue is from the top. Well, OK, but what is his credibility and standing to make that determination - other than he is a worldwide recognized genius for his books ... but there is a lot of confusion about thinking that rich people or smart people are brilliant at everything and know all fields. This seems essentially an argument from authority ... get a smart guy and have him convey the propaganda to the audience ... so what is his claim to authority about Ukraine? Is he Ukrainian ... Russian ... has he been there? has he specifically studied this history? Why is he making this video? One thing is understandable that east has invaded west and west has invaded east THROUGH UKRAINE, because it is a wide long flat expanse, like a super-highway that spans east to west. That means that Russia has been invaded 3 times in relatively recent history FROM THROUGH UKRAINE. Any mention or comment about that? Also for the time that Ukraine was allied with Russia/USSR it was closely allied, some major historical Russian figures came from Ukraine. There is a lot here that YNH ignores in favor of just telling us what we have to think.

@briancarton1804 Everyone keeps telling me this, what I already know. I saw the movie "The Killing Fields" and read the news at the time. That's OK. I have huge respect and admiration for the Vietnamese people. In CA we have a lot of Vietnamese living here and they are very nice, smart and hardworking people with a lot of humanity - and don't forget the best food in the world in my opinion. I just did not get the OP's story on first reading. One day I hope to go visit Vietnam.

Nationalism to the Right is not what YNH thinks ... it is a code word for racism and inequality, and classism.
