  1. It's not just their crime rate - it is there whole attitude about society. They look to advance community - not isolate people for profit like we do in the US. I grew up in the 70's and I literally hate the direction US society has taken as everything has gotten to be about class differences and money - and getting it any way possible - including crime. Everyone loved the Godfather movies, but I hated them because they were all about crime families.

  2. No country is perfect, but I really admire Japan and a lot of the developed Western world for seeing their countries as a society, a community, but especially Japan - it is so civic oriented. We could use a lot more of that in America.

  4. Bingo, I had to "walk the proverbial miles to get to school as a kid". Today, I look at my old neighborhoods where I lived and that would be impossible. Development in America is exclusively about money, profit and ripping people off.
