The question is not socialism or capitalism, the question is who owns and runs the government.
Do we have super-rich people who grab more and more of the wealth in the country and ship it off overeseas to own and run the government, or do we actually have real elections where the government must listen and meet the needs of citizens?
If the super-rich control a puppet government they buy and vote themselves more profits and less taxes, and less responsibility to the country, that is not the American government. No one came here for that.
We either have a puppet government that is owned by corporations and lobbyists, or we have a government so weak it cannot do anything. Either way, that is not what the Founders intended.
As Franklin said, we have a Republic, if we can keep it. As Lincoln said, we have government by, for and of the people. On the thousands and thousands of people's lives who died for these ideas, they are not a joke or a lie, but we do apparently haver to fight continuously for them. Socialism is the part where the country is run for the people, and capitalism wants a country run by money.
