Trump is the snake, and WE ALL did know what he was before we took him in. Maybe Americans are sick of this country because it has not worked for them for so long, many it never worked for, and they are willing to tear it down and lose it rather than think carefully about how to fix it.

How come these kinds of clips are not reported on by the likes of FOX News? I think a case needs to be made that News and Journalism must act in the public interest, or they need to lose their license. Let FOX be marginalized to You-Tube and have to be regulated by a private Terms of Service agreement ... news and editorials must be fair and allow everyone to speak, and not report selectively.

That is just human ... I diagree with white privilege but it has and does exist, and the Democrats are doing a very poor job of making it seem like they care about anything BUT illegal aliens. The messaging is set to create division and conflict between the parties ... ORWELLIAN.

Trump is not a populist, he is a demagogue fascist, and I would not be a bit surprised if almost all of his support is manufactured, like his first announcement for President when he paid people $50 to show up and fill out the crowd. Republicans are desperate to seem more than they are, and they will do anything to maintain their power ... we must be ready to counter them any way that is necessary.

The problem is that in an era of decreasing jobs and wages it does drive a lot of Americans crazy that we are letting in the number of immigrants that we are, and the Democratic message seems to be coming through as ... the Democratic party wants to let in unlimited immigration ... this is the perception, and Democrats are doing nothing at all to refine that message, so that in effect they are doing the Republican's work for them by appearing to be unconcerned with Americans and more concerned with immigrants, legal or not. DEMOCRATS, GET YOUR MESSAGING RIGHT -- STOP ALIENATING POTENTIAL VOTERS BY APPEARING TO IGNORE AMERICANS NEEDS IN FAVOR OF IMMIGRANTS. IT IS RIGHT AND GREAT TO CARE ABVOUT IMMIGRANTS, BUT THERE IS A POINT THAT ALLOWING TOO MANY IMMIGRANTS IN HARMS AMERICANS. that is a great quote, and one cannot disagree with it ... but what about the whole immigration question. should their be limit on immigration, should it be series, or should their not be. Can the US take in everyone? I do not agree with anything Trump has done, but is there no middle ground? I despise Trump and the Republicans but this is an issue that is tailor made to drive a lot of Democrats to not vote or to vote Republican our of fear.

Do you think it would be fair for the US government to demand equal treatment of everyone, race, religion, gender and sexual orientation ... by class ... with policies like steeply progressive taxation, guaranteed housing, health care. education, transportation, and communication? Would that be enough if it was really done to bring justice to all? Or would it still be necessary to do some kind of reparations to native Americans and blacks, and what form should that take?

I like the government funding part, but the proportional representation part is problematic. PBS does a great job with their NewsHour show, and the BBC works ever better, look a the BBC show Question Time. The issue specificallt with America today is over-representation to the point of manipulation and propaganda of the far right - perhaps already to the point that the country is broken beyond repair, so that no plan would ever be implmented anyway. I think taking money out of politics would work better. Also putting back the Fairness Doctrine that worked well at the time. Breaking the propaganda cycle is key and being able to have an opposition voice speak directly against any given point of view right at the time was a good balance. The problem was in the 80's when the Republicans saw this worked and the killed it claiming it was against Free Speech. The implication there is the Free Speech is being allowed to present one's point of view without rebuttal or any check .. clearly corruption at the time to demand the rght to shut other people up as a consequence of right-wing free speech - but then that is the whole problem with the right-wing, they do not respect any rules or government, yet they want to demand a controlling part in whatever government there is so they can undermine it.

Teenkitsune - There is not an infinite number of anything on planet Earth and I did not say that. Unlimited does not mean infinite, and if you want to have a civil conversation your wild hyperbole does not aid it. This is not about Nazis, although that could be a factor for some rabid Republicans, but there was something in the Demcratic platform that made enough Democrats not vote last time, or even switch over from Obama to Trump to get Trump elected. A lot of people say it was partially immigration, but you make it ridiculous to say that it was all racism - it wasn't. It was people who voted for Obama that did not vote for Trump - and for a reason? Also, do not make personal attacks on me. I would not even bother to engage with something I knew was a racist. I would not bother to even call them names it is a waste of time. If you cannot engage in conversation or debate without civility there is no point.

Olivia, true ... but those trailer park people still think they are better off than blacks and would rather support a system that impoversishes them than thrown in as American citizens with the blacks and other minorities. They think they are ahead by virtue of their race, which is what the dog-whistles tell them and they are dumb enough to believe.

Ryne, the cartoonization of both sides is what everyone is fighting about. Like with guns, Republicans are saying Democrats want to take away their guns. I sure don't, I agree with the second amendment. Same with immigration, I think there should be limits on immigration, but there is no need to treat people as subhumans, separate children from their parents. Sure, there are some sneaky, devious and even criminal people sneaking over the border, but that is a different subject. Republicans always conflate all the arguments together to confuse and terrorize people. The end result is that working people are the big losers, and the country because the top about 10% runs everything and they make things easy for them to control and exploit, not better for people.

Ruby, I totally agree. But what specifically do you disagree with ... I think this is the failure of Democrats, ( of which I am a very strong Demcrat, More Green, but I will not vote Green ) I am and have been a radical since I was a kid. Be careful about trying to draw conclusions about me based on the emotions you might provoke ... pay attention to my words. The question is ... how to bring about change either in the existing political framework, or how it might be brought about from outside. I hope within still works, so one has to be reasonable and evolutionary and appeal to voters. IF I was a dictator, I'd be fine dictating fair voting rights, universal single payer health care, free public education, a UBI universal basic income, and a lot of other progressive things ... but all those things are new and would need to be regulated and debugged over time or they would not work. Democrats in my opinion are not going to win if they screw up the messaging and alienate lots of white voters like they did last time. Even with a stupid candidate like Trump Republicans could not win, so they always have to play tricks, and those trick are not always going to be obvious or come from Republicans. Democrats themselves can be used to ruin their brand name and discourage voters from involvement.

Ruby, yeah, I agree we have to hang together, but we are being played too. There are however provocateurs in the Democratic party, almost to the point where they have taken over and made the Democratic Party like the Republican party of 30 years ago in order to shift the political center. The DNC's support for Hillary Clinton and the Democratic establishment that favors corporations instead of people for example. News and the political groups are in cahoots to manipulate us.
