  4. mathew idicula I agree. I was leery of Barack Obama in 2008, and I feel I was right. He had no accomplishments and no history. Hillary has been in Washington, and Sec. of State, and in the Senate ... but Bernie has been Bernie all his life. A Mayor, a Congressman, a Senator ... all the while carrying the same message, fact-based, told straight and honest. I want Bernie as our next President.

  13. I will vote for Bernie wherever I can. I trust him to make the right decisions for the majority of Americans. I do not agree with him on this issue though. I think it is bad that the American economy has a virtual slave class of undocumented immigrants. There is a cost to the US economy to every citizen under his plan of Democratic Socialism, which I believe in.  It would have to be proved to me that allowing immigration on the scale of millions of people already here, and millions more to come when they see what they can get in the US and how easy it is. There is a gap here.  I don't know the answer to it, but when CA had the best school system in the country, the cost of that school system was going up and up to the point where CA passed Prop. 13 that cut the schools budget and got to where education started to become so expensive.  I think that was in large part because the people of CA got tired of paying more taxes and losing their houses just to  provide benefits to anyone who could sneak over the border or drop a baby on this side of the fence. I know lots of good Americans from South of the Border, and they are the kind of Americans that melt into the country and want to become Americans in the vast majority, unlike some other groups that stay apart for generations.  It is just that there has to be some limit or control to this. I am open to other ideas and facts, but I don't think the pace of immigration we have today is helpful or sustainable and it adds to the destruction of the American middle class Bernie wants so badly to halt.

A mother making $10,00 an hour has no business having 3 children, and those are three more children now that are going to have adversity all their lives, and their children if they have children the same. There has got to be a better use for Medicare and our tax dollars and supporting people's bad decisions like this. This student loan problem is much, much worse than he is talking about because a certain number of students get caught up with incompetent teachers or schools, like Trump University, and they lose their money and get nothing for it. School is a privatized industry now like any other, subject to all the same scams and hoaxes - even more because it is something like healthcare that everyone needs to have, and that means the scams are worse, and most of them have government complicity to survive and operate these scams against people. And now it is the same with jobs ... they job market is small enough to be managed by corporations to pick jobs only to those who kowtow and bow and scrape to them. We have the engineering of a fascist state the most powerful ever conceieved, and the US Constitution and government used to hide it by a media that is owned and controlled by the same people.

I don't think they understand things like how Hamas got billions of dollars in aid, some from the UN through UNRWA - a permanent siphon of money from UN member countries to Hamas who instead of investing in Gaza and building things like power plants and water purification systems took that money, gave it to Hamas leaders who do not even live in Gaza, and bought weapons and build tunnels and planned TRUE genocidal attacks on Israelis - not just Jews. I see no evidence that these two acknowledge this, and in fact are supporting Hamas because many of their supporters are just as awful as the Nazi/KKK supporters of Donald Trump - and that their failure to stand up to the extreme Left is a real problem for their own agenda.

Instead of opening the Progressive movement to criticism, why don't you talk about the cost of living in certain areas of open the discussion to economists and others who might have ideas how to index local minimum wages to the local cost of living so Bernie's and the Progressives' national minimum wage policy would not be vulnerable to political attacks from the right as being bad for business . Here in the Bay Area of California even a $15 minimum wage is still basically slow death instead of anything remotely like a Living Wage* . In other economically depressed areas $15 could actually support a person and a child.

Look at our current political situation and tell me that democracy works, or, if there are problems with democracy our national policy should be to let the chip fall where they may and election goons like Donald Trump. There are a lot of very stupid and manipulatable Americans, and there are a lot of very very evil and smart people who can analyze American society and with social media better than ever target and amass mobs of very ugly and dangerous, stupid or selfish people who care nothing for the whole country any more than Donald Trump. There is something to be said for the fact that very rich people have a higher stake in America and though they own and control the means of production they are not a danger to the whole country's survival. We need a far better analysis that Bernie is capable of doing, and much as I love Bernie's dream and voted for him in our current system I am not sure the absolute changes he is talking about here will make things better and more than what we have now is. What we need is perhaps regulation on campaigning and lobbying. I also think a maximum limit on income and wealth would be a good idea. In any case the subject demands are much deeper conversation about this than Bernie can offer.

  78. There is one way I think Bernie is being stubborn and kind of stupid. That is, I can appreciate what he means by Democratic Socialist, it's fine with me, BUT, that term will have a lot of baggage with a lot of other people and be an attack point by Trump. The only reason Trump can use it as a point of attack is that the meaning of Democratic Socialist, or Social Democrats, or Socialist is something that has been eroded in America since the 50's. A phrase that does mean something to all Americans and is easy to reference and understand is FDR Democrat. I think Bernie should not run away from his embrace of Democratic Socialism, but he should incorporate the branding of FDR Democrat more - simply to be clearly and have something to point to when the inevitable attacks come.

I was so glad that he ran and angry that he was kicked out of the Democratic Party, but even then I thought he is not serious - though he was doing a good job bringing his ideas to the public. For example, why, if he was serious, did he not just join the Democrats, and stop calling himself a Socialist? That was a campaign killer right there. He would have won if he had done that and called himself an FDR Democrat, but he seemed determined to lose.
