This is not as simple as it sounds, or Bernie makes it sound. Look at our current political situation and tell me that democracy works, or, if there are problems with democracy our national policy should be to let the chip fall where they may and election goons like Donald Trump. There are a lot of very stupid and manipulatable Americans, and there are a lot of very very evil and smart people who can analyze American society and with social media better than ever target and amass mobs of very ugly and dangerous, stupid or selfish people who care nothing for the whole country any more than Donald Trump. There is something to be said for the fact that very rich people have a higher stake in America and though they own and control the means of production they are not a danger to the whole country's survival. We need a far better analysis that Bernie is capable of doing, and much as I love Bernie's dream and voted for him in our current system I am not sure the absolute changes he is talking about here will make things better and more than what we have now is. What we need is perhaps regulation on campaigning and lobbying. I also think a maximum limit on income and wealth would be a good idea. In any case the subject demands are much deeper conversation about this than Bernie can offer.
