  1. Meritocracy is merely who merits the favor of the plutocrats by kissing their asses the best. This whole discussion is way out of line - but I do enjoy hearing Peter Hitchens' opinions about some things - for instance Ukraine. Not so much here, he is a defender of the status quo.

  2. I hate these pointless aristocratic discussions about undefinably vague meaningless terms. Peter Hitchens has a great brain, and it seldom gets put to real positive use. The latest exception to that would be his discussions on Ukraine and Russia.
