  2. I don't see it as an obsession, and I don't think those who have been on the wrong side of the opposite would either. The point is that we are all lazy and just want one unthinking rule to go by in all cases - the one side fits all syndrone - and one side never fits all. The issue is that we have no experience drawing the line, making boundaries with immigrants and other cultures. And people lie so easily as well.

Before this interview I had no problems with Affleck, but no positive feeling about Affleck would have overridden the nutso stuff he was saying about Islam. I'm also thinking that Affleck has to be cool because if he is seen as too activist he is going to have problems with Islam after his movie about the Iranian hostages. This whole interview seemed to me to be a kind of propaganda engineered operation to accomplish something. Something that I mostly agree with and I think went well. Who knows what Affleck believes, but the right point got through in my opinion.

  8. Maybe Liberals have failed us ... but that is a really poor way to state that because it focused on just one piece of of failure, thus implying that Conservatives have not. This is the same dishonest tactic that Palestinian sympathizers use when they focus only on the damage that Israel defending itself does without providing context of the whole history of the region. I basically agree with Sam, but I still that one piece does that. Islam is 25% of countries ... and those countries are significantly backwards. It is a problem for the developed world, and everyone. Affleck is irrational on this issue.

On this wacked out issue of Islam in the world and its effect on the world, the minute it gets mentioned it flips people into "reptile mode" where they take a stand, dig in, and everything becomes black and white. No one is thinking at that point, and even though Maher and Harris made their point, the other side is going to be looking at their best defense, and since they have no logical defense it becomes, what is their best claim to get traction .. and it is always racism or islamophobia.

I don't think anyone wants to empower anti-social people or criminals, and that is what Republicans try to make this all about. There is no word for equality of outcome ... because no one wants that, though if we had equality of opportunity for a long while we would approact more equality of outcome. The way Dave Rubin constantly harps on these anti-democratic memes the more he comes off as a defender of the plutocracy and elitist. When he does videos like this he might as well be Rush Limbaugh spouting BS.

Democrats were saying first that democracy is unde attack by Republicans - because it is, and it has been for decades in various dimensions from the 60's when the supporters of Conservatism realized that they had to cheat and lie to win elections after FDR's New Deal. Even today, Trump is saying he will be a dictator in his wink-wink kind of way. He will, he won't, he's kidding, but look at his actions. THEN, we have Republicans following what they do all the time. When the Democrats make arguments against them, Republicans just turn it around and accuse Democrats of doing the same thing they are doing. The issue is the money that drives both parties is being sucked up by the billionaire class ini order to disempower the American people and the billionaire class manipulates the American people blame that inequality on the government and the Democrats, in order to create a one-party fascist government who only keep the Democrats around for show purposes. The minute Democrats try to do something democratic, the billionaire class withdraws their monetary support from them, and used the media to demonize Democrats. RFKjr. has to equally vilify both sides to draw voters away from them - but he is lying and dishonest about it.

You Trump butt-kissers want to have it both ways - you laud Trump for not getting us into any wars, but act like he took some kind of action against the Houthis when all he did was take names - without the kicking-ass follow-up. While Trump was massaging the Saudi glow-ball, thinking he was sweet-talking them into producing more oil, they didn't respond any more than they did to George W. and in fact when the pandemic hit they cut production and oil prices went way up. The old CIA people, it's hard to know which ones are worse? People like Ray McGovern on the wacky Left, or this guy who shills for Trump. And meanwhile Rubin will have anyone on who supports Trump. I know Rubin is a fairly smart guy, so why are all the smart guys lowering themselves to capture these Trump voters? Why, why, why?
