  4. +Ryan Kenny Because all the Japanese have benefitted by becoming part of the West. Look at what they did to China, and for no reason other than conquest. We did not conquer Japan, and we made quite an effort so it did not look like that. Japan is autonomous. That is not an "empire" ... this whole empire thing and calling America imperialist just shows someone does not know what these words mean.

  5. +Bryan P Mincing words ... we call the US an empire, but it is not an empire. We do not take riches from these countries, we do not take slaves, as a matter of fact we give them access to our markets so they can export resources, agricultural products, industrial and manufactured goods and everyone benefits. We do this with China as well ... we have built China, but what have they done in return, and the fact that they have not done anything means to me that they intend to be an empire. Take a look at Tibet, or what they say about Taiwan ... do you care about that? I think the US is an empire only because we do not have a real word for what the US is, but we are not Rome, that is a lazy person's conclusion.
