  1. Do they have to connect the GPS tracker to a source of power or do these things just use batteries? If they use batteries, they I would assume those batteries wear out at some point, and need to be replaced, or the device recovered or maybe it needs to be connected to to a source of power?

  2. That's interesting what you say about leaving a camera in your car when you are not there. What about a hidden nanny-cam to surveil someone taking care of your children? Is that then illegal unless you specifically mention there is a camera there? If a nanny was to somehow find or notice a camera that was hidden are there laws that are broken, charges that could be filed or damages to be collected due to invasion of privacy, or whatever the issue would be?

I still do not see what would be wrong about keeping it in plain sight outside your house, like in a mailbox, or on a porch so that if they did obtain a warrant to search your house for the device they would not have to go inside your house to do. You could point them right to the device ... assuming you were there when they executed the warrant.
