  1. The lockdown gave a chance to those who wanted to avoid C19 to be able to do so. Did anyone define "lockdown", or what reasonable policies might be? It made sense to me, and of course there are stupities in its implementation as there always are with anything people do. I wore my mask and stayed as distant as I could from people I don't know. I still have not gotten C19 3/5 years later. Meanwhile people online tell me I am going to die in the next 2 years because I got vaccinated. Someone, far from censoring the public, is putting out so much noise and BS that it seems like they want people to die.

  2. I disagree with Peter Hitchens. We do not have experience yet as a species with this new found level of social interaction, and I think it is very reasonable for the government, or academia, or a citizens panel, or some body to technically analyze what goes on and how social media works. The problem comes with the fact that when an organization is set up to do such a thing, the people in it, and the people around it will always be trying to leverage it for their own means - and no one is watching and auditing them. In the same way that a virus like C19 can blaze through the global population, we call ideas or proganda viral, and it can have a huge effect before governments have idea what is going on if they do not monitor social media. Why do virtually all countries have censors on their TV shows? Why do bodies have defenses and immune systems? So, does the question then become - how is this to be done or implemented, and should it be hidden from the public that anything is being done at all. Because if we do not know that something is being done, and we are being manipulated to some extent, we become nothing more than lab animals or cattle.

  4. 13:32 - The government is always trying to get back all the powers that have been taken away from it in the last several hundred years. Right on, Peter ... what a radical! Democracy has always been the right against the abuses of capitalism, because the economy is one of the basic ways people are controlled. Economics mediates society and can be used to control it. We have an understanding ( some of us anyway ) of the defects of our systems, but no one is institutionalizing any of the ways to fix them - as the US Constitution began to do, and said in its text would have to be refined and changed over time.

The only reason one would be in favor of a Russian victory is if you looked at the long history since 2014 at the latest, but could go back to 1992 when the Cold War DID NOT END, and the West continued to war on Russia while lying to it that they were going to help them. If the West is to blame, and was the long term offender - against their wills of knowledge of their people ... they a Russian victory would be justice. Were Americans in favor of a Vietnamese victory in the immoral and illegal war in Viet Nam? Well, no one said such a thing, or could say such a thing at the time, but a victory of the North Vietnamese nationalists saved their country. Yeah, so I am not against my country - AMERICA - I am against the never ending war policies that we have that deprive Americans themselves of a decent life, education, health care, safety net - all constantly being denied or threatened. The American government is wrong - and what is not right is for them to triumph with global miliaristic bullying.

But then he always has to push it too far and claim the liberals are in power fighting liberals wars instead of Conservative wars ... but the Ukrainian war has been bi-partisan ... in the works for 20 or more years. He just cannot get his senile old head out of liberal-conservative and realize that blather is used to manipulate people because it is a great tool for dividing people - over nothing.

  7. The biggest sausage that is getting sliced in the UK that I can see from the US is the destruction of the NHS, and the mass manipulation of Brits for things like BREXIT.
