Well, one intelligent mind anyway. I think Rory is a massive liar and phony.

Rory Stewart ... his violent passive aggressivism and defense of what he damn well knows is true and toxic just sickens me to listen to. He may have apologized to Sam for the nasty comments he made, but it's clear to me at least that he was not sincere and was only sorry that someone heard it and reported it to Sam. Why apologize for your true feelings unless you seek to manipulate with lies? His constant interruptions and claims that Muslims are great ... but to me the issue is when the core heart of Islam is in Iran and Saudi Arabia which are countries of intolerence, discrimination, violence ... and he completely ignore that, as well as saying that Hamas is some abberation of Islam when there is very substantial support around the world, and in the UN Muslims states for Hamas under the guise of concern and compassion for the Palestinians, when Muslims are killing Muslims or ethnically cleansing them - it's just totally irrational. There is some reasoning here that he is not sharing or admitting to. What does he get from his life in Muslim countries that he is not revealing? What are his personal relationships with women like in his life? And more broadly since Oct-7th I had never understood what was the huge support for Hamas in Ireland, and across the UK - combined with ignorance on the matter. I am so glad to see Sam standing up against this mountain or BS interruptions from this guy who seems to think he can pass off the most blatant lies if speaks in a soft enough tone. Something just feels very suspicious about Rory Stewart.

Well said.

He is so disgustingly dishonest and inhuman - a complete rejection of rationality and logic.

Where did he say that? You should include a timestamp of that. I think I might have missed it.

This was one of the most torturous conversations I've ever listened to. Rory is absolutely devoted to as Steve Bannon would say, flooding the zone with doodoo. He makes very sure to criticize and condemn Hamas for Oct. 7th, and yet on every other comment he makes he undercuts the comments he makes in order not be judged as a homicidal terrorist maniac. I think there is something just broken in a certain way in certain people who have this attachment or attraction to Islam who cannot look plainly at what its books say, and the overwhelming message that Islamic scholars pass out. These people will argue back and forth forever with a gleam in their eye because they know in Western society we are so slow and lenient to see an existential threat, or to take action against it. He knows in the back of his mind the Muslims are breeding and carrying out behaviors designed to stress, and use Western culture against itself. Rory is so incredibly unclear is exactly what he is saying, because he cannot really say or he condemns himself and his religion.

Rory Stewart's brain is broken. He says nothing evcept the general tone is supporting Hamas and Islam based on these wild distractions from the distant past. I just cannot stand this person. If I was in that room I would feel physically ill.

Yes, and why are the out realms of more reasonable Muslims ... if they actually exist except is flip-flop speak ... why do they not call for reform or stand up against the constant barbarism in parts of the world - or more specifically, if they do not support this violence, corruption and lies, why do they continue to identify as Muslims?

The difference is that very few of those other systems, Nazism or USSR intruded so violently and terroristiscally if that is word on the individual. In Palestine, children see miseray, pain, abuse ... they see how life is, and they also see what happens to complainers, and what their fellow citizens are capable of. It is a low-tech Orwellian nightmare that even the Nazis or Russians did not approach.

@jerry866 This is the kind of mentality I get with today's Republicans. You can confront them holographically with facts about whatever they they will escape into some peculiar dimension jumping through black holes in space time to say - aha - but what about Democrats before the Civil War, it was the Republicans who were the slave liberators, or any other non-sequitur. After listening to the rest of the podcast I still do not get what Rory's thesis is - especially when he says that he does not believe that Islam is not an existential threat to Britain. Or in the same way saying that Palestinians are not an existential threat to Israel because they cannot extinquish the Jewish state altogether? Huh? If you destroy Tel Aviv with missiles and make business and logistics and rebuilding impossible - how is that not an existential threat, and yet when Israel methodically moves through Gaza to exterminate Hamas they have no problem calling that genocide. There is just no logic here. Or Sam's point about if you had a button to press that would solve the problem any way possible, what would Israelis do versus what would Palestinians do. If both sides are really do compassionate to each what the hell is the whole mess about then?

@MyFluXx > Delusional about Islam yes, phoney, absolutely not I don't know what you would call phony then - and don't really want to hear your twisted logic about it. It would be, to continue the analogy, that someone who supported Nazism in the US before or during WWII either had to be totally morally and spiritually toxic, or was just a good liar ... either way I would call that phony.
