Crass commercialism. I agree with you about older music ... it was more serious and not throwaway garbage. The millenial whoop thing is funny, but there is usually nothing new under the sun. And things that we like today in some classical music was harshly critiqued at the time until people's ears got used to it. To me musical is a more personal thing, and I really dislike hearing it everywhere I go - especially around the holidays when it is the same Christmas songs repeated over and over and over again.
