  1. I think there was an unknown slice of voters who were leaning away from Trump, but not quite secure or positive enough to actually support and vote for VP Harris. With the double-whammy of this debate ... that is, 1 - the expanding groups of Republicans and Trump insiders who are coming out saying they are voting for Harris, and 2 - this debate performance that showed her as a tough minded leader who can stand on her own and handle herself against possibly the most obnoxious world leader today, Donald Trump, people are comfortable coming out for Kamala Harris. Her smarts in setting an agenda, her poise in her public appearances including this one, and especially the fact that she and Tim Walz are both of and from the middle class who grew up in the real American most of the rest of us exist in - all that makes a big difference, but she had to appear strong and competent - and she did a great job.
