What will this do .... it will jack up the price of oil as tension in the middle east always does, and it will cause tens or hundreds of millions of Americans to spend any tax savings they get and more, or think they are getting from the fake Trump Middle Class Cut to go straight into the pockets of the oil companies.   245. AOC is playing a in a game where she can have two effects. She can tear down or she can build, and she has to do some amount of both. Trying to do both at the same time with Amazon seems like it is working up to be a big fail. Now Amazon is gone and there is nothing there for her to surveil and criticize or inform the public about. There are no win-win opportunities for either side. That is sad, and it is a fail for AOC. It is a big fail, and she needs to get in front of this, own it, and save it. If she can do all that, she then proves that she can learn from it. I wonder if she will get the chance though now?

One thing I can tell you right off is that Amazon cannot built this anywhere. it is more than buildings, it is transportation, commication, culture, employee pool, and lots of other things. So you are way off from the very beginning. Rents are already high in all American cities for many reasons. Why do you think that having Amazon move in somewhere is any different, or significantly different from them or anyone else moving in anywhere? You latched onto Amazon because they have been in the news. What gets in the news these days if often what someone wants to plant as propaganda and since it is the right-wing that owns most of the news outlets, it is a right-wing point of view that we get. Finally, even our view of the Left-wing is mediated in the right-wing news by the right wing. Don't fall or everything you hear.

I have seen a company that sometimes has to be criticized and pushed, but that on the most part is amazing in terms of what it has done, what it started, how fast and cleverly it has moved, and what it has developed that has been great for the average customer. From books, e-books, audio-books, to music, to consumers goods, to food now Amazon has evolved business in favor of the customer. I want to see them do more, but compared to most companies in the US Amazon is much much better. I don't understand all the vilification compared to like WalMart for example.

  251. I have a lot of respect and concern for black people. I was raised in white America, and have lived in the South, and I know that what this Professor is talking about is the truth. There are a lot of white people that are just immoral and hateful when it comes to minorities ... and most of them anyway treat everyone not in their in-group badly. Human beings in power tend to abuse that power, and the power whites have racially in America is very dangerous. That said, I don't think it is impossible to have black-white friendships. I have known two black people more than casually and I liked them both and wish I had gotten to know them better. Tax breaks bribed and forced from our lawmakers make working people's taxes very high, while the billionaires who can afford it pay almost no taxes. We need a just and reasonable tax system that asks that the people who benefitted the most from America pay back their good fortune.
