The bottom line here I see is that Republicans have always advocated for a criminal society, or a society that accepts criminal behavior, and to the extent that we tip Republican, like after Ronald Reagan we have the whole media change to admiring the criminal violent man. It is almost impossible to break out of the violent society because the norms required for a higher level of society are easy to smash from the inside. Once it is lost it is much harder to reform, and possibly impossible for hundreds of years if history is any influence.
