> In my Objectivist perspective, free-market capitalism can best solve those two problems. This line was like 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of what you said. It's a big "fat" claim that free-market capitalism can somehow distribute and control the benefits of technology. Can you even give a broad hand-waving at what a proof of that statement might look like? I'm sure not going to hold my breath for it though.

I don't really know if knowledge is growing exponentially ... if it is it has a denominator that is almost infinite. Even at our old knowledge growth rate humans have a wisdom deficit, so that wisdom deficit is just getting worse. Plus, the people on the top are finding all kinds of ways to limit information to the rest of us making our knowledge irrelevant. What is growing is the amount of data we have on human behavior and people ... and that is the scariest thing.

Sounds like a great idea ... but at some point by having everything in the cloud what do we turn into ... virtual "incorporation" - individual people and even their whole lives analogous to cells in an organism? What do our lives as human beings turn into when such decisions that went before are forced on everyone while the destruction of the planet also forces us to side with the meta-entity that is programmed death. Screw that, if human progress does not slow down we disappear.

People know RK's track record, wrong or right he's earned the right to pontificate, until people won't listen, but what takes up exponential gazillions of bits of space on the internet are blurts by people who think they are saying something that meshes with anything anyone else is saying or has import and the fights they provoke. We're all guilty of it in some way, but come on, the mere mention of "free-market capitalism" in any context these days is just an excuse to intimidate and rant.

What democratizing affect have we seen ? We've seen local companies helping totalitarian regimes develop and carry out implementing controls and mining of data to find dissidents? We seen money be able to be ubiquitous in the media shouting down not just opposing voice but rational debate which seems to be just as threatening to the powers that be. When rational debate threatens the powers that be there is already an unresolvable problem! and technology is controlled and owned and gated by -

You don't seem to be able to handle discussion or debate. Your first words are an accusation you then fail to explain or back up before you move on to trying to spout some positive sounding gibberish so you can pretend to be in the know. Your reading comprehension needs a little work as well. As Kurzweil might say your, pattern recognizers are outworking your rationality.

1:13:25 It's a pretty tough sell to say that this tech stuff has been democratizing. This is the one thing I really dislike and distrust from Kurweil ... he shrugs off political and moral concerns, based on his "accomplishments" ... which are exactly what puts him in the greatest position to exploit and take advantage of it - of course he doesn't care about privacy, no one is going to invade his privacy. Technology has promoted the view of a small number of people over everyone else.
