  1. I doubt it. Even if you combined all the matter in our solar system there would not be close to enough to enclose or encircle our Sun ... the distances are mind boggling. It's a great science fiction idea, but what would be the point of chewing up the earth to make a giant glorified solar panel? For who, for what?
