  2. When politicians say "The fact of the matter is" or "the fact is" they are basically calling the other person a liar, and proclaiming that they have absolute truth. It is absurd for Rami to try to make the case that the Right wing is not out of control - but he has to because he hopes those Right-wing nuts will vote for him. Republicans have long depended on co-opting certain very ugly criminal or corrupt parts of society to support them. The race baiting dog-whistles that began with Reagan and was steady right up to Trump - and now Ramaswampy.
