  5. In the West the economic order can always be maintained by squashing the people. But when we do that we cannot pretend we have a democracy, so now we vililify democracy as being socialism or communism.

I can't think of a single country that is a real democracy, and i cannot prove that democracy is good or would even work, though I take it as an article of faith that democracy is a goal that should be aimed for. In the US democracy means that every few years we get to vote for some people rich folks pay to put in front of us to represent them. By the numbers - the will of the people on actual issues is never taken into account or even talked about?

Sachs is great, and probably almost totally correct, but his image is not assisted by always doing interviews with foreign media, except that it is better than nothing since there are no decent American news network with any credibility anymore ... and we think we're so great that we can use massive deadly force to tell everyone else what to do.- with no explanation.

  8. It's a bit glib to say or think that every country has a government approved or blessed by its people. What really bugs me is that organizations are getting so good at lying and manipulating the public it can end up marginalizing the people of the world under hierarchical governments they have no say in.

  9. I find this annoying. If you want to criticize your country - maybe you should do it in your own country. Does anyone really know for sure what is going on in China in terms of their version of democracy? I think what might be the best for everyone is if every country over a certain size broke into various pieces that are not too big, and we get rid of nuclear weapons and armies. The world will not survive if we don't get it right NOW!

  12. Democracy needs to be maintained, and in the West rich people have bribed or purchased democracy from the population. WTH is going on - it's insane.
