Also, those Shelter Dynamics houses are cute, but they appear to be very small, and while they seem cute and adorable all of the windows appear to be non-standard, so if they ever broke it seems like it would cost a fortune and take a long time to replace. Not that windows break often, but they do break.

  6. Thanks, very informative. Question: Are you saying that the bi-facial solar panels have two P-N junctions per panel, and two panels per frame? Would it be possible to have a layer of P material with N material on both sides so that there would only be on one silicon panel per frame?

  7. Question: I notice the house with the solar panel roof. Am I correct in thinking not all of the solar roof panels are facing South, so that they are not being used optimally?

  8. You mentioned Shelter Dynamics' different models, but on their website, which is very glitchy they only show the small one, and they give no costs or any other detail. I am in CA so that would be one of the companies I would look at. The problem is that none of these companies, that I know of at least, is make a go of it, so all these companies' products are very expensive because they have no volume or economy of scale. Do you have any idea how much Shelter Dynamics' houses costs, or a per square foot estimate?

  9. Every time I see some modular home scheme, they seem OK, most of them don't seem that great, but some are very nice - but, they all seem much more expensive than stick-built homes. That may be changing, but only because stick-built homes are hugely expensive.
