Hitchens is correct in every way. All the facts and logic are on his side. So stupid, Smith says if not for the involvement of the US and UK, Ukraine would not be standing. 8:30 It surely would be standing because there would have been no war. How does he have the gall to say something like that? The idea that Ukraine wants to commit suicide even in the face of nuclear weapons, in light of the last Hitchens debate where I think his name was Konstantine Kisin, and actual Ukrainian said that Ukrainians always wanted just peace. They don't care about Crimea, or Donbas ... and that is how Zelensky got elected ... he lied.

@@TOM-TOM-TOM Listen to Hitchens, and maybe Mearsheimers. Putin said and lived up to respecting Ukraine as its own country. The problem came about when the US took over the Ukrainian government and drove to EXCLUSIVELY to the West, also claiming that it would eventually be NATO. When the US took over the Ukrainian government, and then used force when Yanukovych was elected over Yushenko, America's choice, and Yanukovych wanted to keep Ukraine neutral and trade with both Russia and the EU, the US started military aid to the Nationalists and Nazis, and the war began in Donbas. Without the US there would have been no war. BUT, then look at the ethnic makeup and language of Ukraine relative to the east-west split. There is a natural split there that should be two countries, but the US wanted to force Ukraine to stay together, so it began the war on the Russian ethnics. Every which way you look at this if you really seek out facts, the US and NATO pushed this, and its been going on for 100 years the attacks and desire to destroy Russia. To destroy both Russia and Ukraine ... what the hell kind of operations is that for the US to be involved it, and it is the same BS as Vietnam, Iraq, etc ... I can't beleive you are defending this.

Where did this Smith guy get dredged up from. His buddy Yushenko was such a terrible Ukrainian President ( appointed with US help ) that he was immediately voted out. Then Yanukovych the Russian moderate was voted in - and the US meddling rallied the Nationalists against him and started the who war on Donbas and against Russians in ernest. Smith is an ultra-hawk war-monger and he doesn't give a damn about the Ukrainians or the Russians - or good or evil for that matter.

Smith goes on a f-ing rant for 10 minutes around the 15:00 mark and just will not let Hitchens speak. Why Hitchens doesn't use his famous ability to keep talking over a blabbermouth like this moron I don't understand.

12:20 - Peter makes the point that the Russian threat was vastly overstated by the west ... subtext being that is what has driven decades of defense OVER-spending, and led to the corporation corruption of the US economy and society. When will we learn? Because the missile gap that they were talking about in the 60's was just as much BS too.

The West is so famous for drawing bad borders ... well, splitting off Ukraine as one country - with two ethnicities in conflict, and including Crimea in that was a recipe for this war. I think what's fair is for the ethnic Russians to have protection - i.e. the Donbas as a independent country since Urkaine did not allow them their autonomy viz the Minsk agreement, and for Russia for its own security to maintain Crimea. Calling this evil is just evil on Smith's part. Smith is driving for more war in the future by his disrespect for Russia and claim and righteous good. What an ass.

On this issue Hitchens always comes out on top, but here in the West the fake pro-Ukrainian side, that has gotten Ukraine destroyed, never loses. Same with the John Mearsheimer Munk debate back a few months.

@ThomasDanielsen1000 The video is about 20_ minutes long, and every single time Hitchens got a chance to speak Smith interrupted him, the last time going on a 7 minute rant and speaking over him not giving him a chance to get a word in edgewise. At the end out of exasperation Hitchens just continued over him. So, yeah, I watched the video and listened to it - did you?

Hitchens finally calls this guy on his continual talking and interrupting. Listen to this interrupting dunce who cannot make his point, so he has to stop Peter from saying anything.

The pro-war people absolutely cannot allow Hitchens or the facts that he raises to be heard. Smith is constanty interrupting with the nonsense about good and evil as if facts and history and the truth doesn't matter. That's pretty evil.

@@TOM-TOM-TOM Hahaha, of course we did, and after Yanukovych was unConstitutionally kicked out, violently run out of the country by US backed Nazi guerillas, we more or less appointed the last two Presidents who amped up the heat on the ethnic Russian minority. Zelensky was elected on promises of ending the fighting, and he was the world puppet of all.

@vhufeosqap You whole comment is not that fruitful. When you remove your textual histrionics from that comment there is really not much left. I'm not saying Ukrainian soveriegnty doesn't matter. I'm saying when the Ukrainian government was captured by the US/NATO and decided to buy into their reality, which you've bought into as well - a reality where Ukraine ignored almost half the country, and in fact declared war on them. The half of the country that historically were the victims of Nazis when the German Nazis invaded Ukraine, and then continued with Nazi policies of murder, terror, genocide and ethnic cleansing against Russians and Jews by the way - that is an irretreivably broken and anti-human rights regime that is criminal. But instead of doing the right thing about it, the US decided to make use of Ukraine's dysfunction to push it into a war with Russia. I'm not making that up - and just because you either do not know about it or your support what the Ukrainian government was going does not mean you can assume you know it all and discount what I and many others - including a lot of experts who have spoken about it in public, with documentation, which is more than your BS censoring and yelling down other people who speak the truth. You write a few lines to explain what happened that are not only wrong, but try to set yourself up as someone who knows that was goin on, but those lines are the common propaganda from the West- that are easily disprove by facts.
