  1. Tim Walz is the perfect man for this VP slot in this short Presidential election. He is a guy with a clear honest story that is instantly likeable and trustworthy. I love this guy!

  2. I love Tim Walz, It would be a total shame if he was not the candidate for VP. The reason is that in this very short abbreviated "primary" season, if you can call it that, he is a guy you can feel like you know and trust in mere minutes. He is dedicated, smart, quick-witted, out-spoken, funny, ... in short he is one of the only likeable people in the entire race across the parties and across the board. Another important factor is that he is a proven getter of swing-votes in Minnesota's Red districts. Since I found out about him and have listened to him - he is the perfect choice, and will in fact balance the ticket in ways far past the normal old-young, liberal-progressive, military-civilian, selecting someone hoping that they can carry their swing state. All the others are great, but they all have some drawback, and I see no drawback or problem with Tim Walz ... this is a guy you can love like an uncle and trust him to have Americans' best interests at heart, and within minutes. My fingers are crossed, I really hope Kamala can see this, and unlike Joe Biden who ( I think ) chose Kamala so as to not outshine him, I think these two, the same age, 60, can complement each other and work together for the benefit of the entire country. This could be a case of bringing back the Democratic party, because it has not done very much for Americans since the 60's. The billionaires and conservative think-tanks must be stopped in their tracks.

You're a Trump supporter so you are grabbing on to any side of an argument that can be twisted to support Trump. The problem is that Biden-Harris is completely different than Jan 6th as you well know, they are not comparable.

  8.  @brutusthecat6044  The only ones I think would be a bad pick, is not because they would be bad VPs, is Kelly because though he is a hero I think he is not photogenic, and the sad situation with Gabby Giffords would be front and center, and also Pete Buttigieg who is a very smart guy, gay and not enough real executive experience. That said - all of them could easily be a better President than we have had for a long time. There is just something really special about Tim Walz because everyone who sees and listens to him likes him almost immediately - and that is really important in this "weird" election cycle. Not to be a smart alec or anything, but I think Kamala is the week part in the voters' minds, and she will get challenged in the coming weeks brutally from Trump, Republicans and the Right-wing News Media. I think she is up for it. Just, please America, no more Trump!

  16. Rahm Emmanuel is awful! I'm sure he is a very nice guy when talking to his global multi-millionaire/billionaire buddies but all I heard him say was ... We "DO" ( present-tense ) all these different things wrong, and not a single thing about how to change it or what to do instead. Democrats have had decades to represent the people and they are done little tiny token issues and blamed Republicans. The two parties work together to break the government so that the special interests can run Washington. Now he wants to run for Nancy Pelosi's job and become another sleazy do-nothing Democratic leader. Stop trying to "convince folks" to get elected and then doing nothing!   18. I consider myself a Bay Area Liberal/Progressive ... or I always did, or used to. Lately when I see the behavior of what now are called Liberals/Progressives/Demcrats it is revolting. I am fine with gays and gay marriage - it's a good thing, but the excesses and absuses of it turn me off. Same with the pro-Palestinians. It used to be that Liberal meant you were more educated and familiar with the facts of issues - now it just means you are a raucous rebel against everything, but naive and even ignorant about the facts. And there are now countless organizations that validate every lunatic idea that exists. It seems Liberals used to be about standing up to intolerance and abuse/exploitation, and especially against big business and corporations - and now the anti-big business and corporation arm has withered to be replaced with a lot of very weird and kind of repulsive behaviors and beliefs by some people.

And by the way, if Republicans would quit trying to take over everything and stomp everyone else to the ground, the actual function of capitalism would work - for instance the benefit of having a true universal health care system would put everyone's data in the same place, and allow AI to find out causes and cures of diseases, and best practices would save the vast majority of the costs. And, if we were all paying for the health care system we'd all be looking to reduce our costs, and we might get sick and tired of the garbage food our system produces that makes people sick and makes our health care costs skyrocket. This country is run like a monopoly game so that one guy like Elon Musk can own everything at the end - it is run to ruin most people's lives and families. If we would do it right, we would not have to spread our system by force, it would really work for people and countries would naturally want to be a part of a system that worked so well and efficiently.

  23. Learn how to write and communicate. But I think I get your point which is about her/Kamala Harris. Don't use a pronoun when you have no referal to what you talking about. I was against Biden from the beginning because the entire purpose of the Biden campaign was to lock Bernie Sanders out of the Democratic party forever. Bernie could not fight this so he rolled over and played dead to try to have a voice in the upcoming Biden administration in 2020. Biden shined Bernie on and gave some lip service ... did the minimum to keep people thinking there was a Progressive streak still in the Democratic party, but it was all for nothing. Bernie got shafted, same as in 2016. Biden also chose a horrible candidate, Kamala Harris, with a progressive background who could be eviscerated if she got too uppity or tried to have a say or expose Biden's duplicity. The economy recovered, because that is what the American economy does only because no one screwed it over during Biden's term, but Biden basically did nothing in his Presidency but play bigshot. He tore at Trump but never went to the people to rally support for any of his supposed Progressive ideals. That's because there were none. So Biden just wanted to play President and being senile he just let things roll forward as they may, and was surprised at how much credit he got for doing that, and made the deliberately fatal mistake of running for a second term. I think any political analyst on the inside of the Democratic party could have seen what he was doing - and it was all about discrediting and disempowering the Left. When he got so bad that he could not even continue that farce, he had to quit, leaving an undeserving, incompetent Kamala Harris as the standard bearer of liberalism. Kamala Harris who no one liked and no one voted for or wanted as the only possible inheritor of his power by sheer mechanics. Biden, Pelosi, Newsom, and others in the top Democratic leadership have been working to destroy the Democratic party and secure everlasting rule for the super-rich. Barren Kamala Harris did not even get anything out of the deal except being a good soldier and doing her job. She even got used and screwed by her own husband in this line of thinking.

  25. I think I'm the only person in the world that hates George W. Bush as a President, but thinks that Iraq was a good move, and that while we were there we should have taken care of Iran. The Middle East would have evolved towards peace and we would not have the mess in Israel we have today - it would have shut off the spigot to the terrorist groups. And Ukraine I am on the edge about. I think the US needed the Ukraine was to keep Europe in our economic hegemony and keep Russia out, but it is a waste, and it shows American is a cold blooded SOB country willing to destroy Ukraine to get at Russia for money. But it would be a mistake to try to fix it at the last moment, we need now to go through with it despite all the destruction and carnage and wasted political cooperation. I think our species is really on the cusp of not making it.

But anyone who has not taken the time to study, listen and understand the situation as to why there cannot be a ceasefire, or a two -state solution is not worthy to express and opinion. There is no way to give the equivalent of ISIS a state. A whole band of countries from Morocco to Malaysia with billions of Muslims exists and cannot make room for a few million refugees from Palestine. Go read some stuff and find out why.

  40. From a Californian's persepective, Kamala Harris has never been in a job long enough to learn it and be outstanding in it. Many believe she was promoted by insiders for a particular reason? I don't know who or what for myself. She is not a good debator, and she was the first to drop out in 2020 because she did not make a positive impression on the electorate. Joe Biden seems to have picke\d her because she was weak, and he played with her sending her to the border - and impossible job, which of course she made no headway with. Now some are talking her up for President? I guess I don't see it.

I believe this indicates that politicians are paid/supported to NOT solve this issue, and to now even talk about it, or bring facts to bear to the public. The issue is not about the low wage workers - yes, apparently America needs a virtual slave class to exist - that is another subject - but it is not the first generation workers that is a problem. The problem is many of these new immigrants from new places do not join or believe in American society or values. Finally, those people who come here are first generation. When they get educated and have children those children are lower wage workes at a higher level and bring down wages for tech workers and others in an already toxic economy and society. That is the issue - talk about it.

  58. The Democratic side of this immigrant argument is false. Sure, first generation immigrants often come over and work in menial low-paying jobs. Some of the return, some of them stay, some of them get citizenship and have children, and those children do not go those jobs and end up competing with citizens here, and they do lower, or put downward pressure on wages at a time when the subject of increasing homelessness and poverty are major problems. But in our "democracy" he cannot afford to recognize this reality or talk about it because it will create voters who will vote against him, and in this way, in certain issues minorities can drive policy. Our politics become totally fake, of necessity because of the toxic incentives.

  59. The statistics say that, in general, the longer someone lives the longer they live. For example average male life expectancy in the US is 77 years. If you live to 76 - you are not expected to die the next year because that average factors in child mortality, cancers, accidents and if you miss all of those thing you have new life expectancy - and that is just for the average American. Biden and sadly Trump have very good health care and lifestyle habits which mean that it is highly likely both of them will live well into their 90's. Look at Jimmy Carter who is 99 this year. George H. W. Bush was 94 when he died. These people in general live a long time longer than average. Biden is 81 and is likely to live a lot longer into his 90s.

From what I have read and my understanding is that there should not be reward for violence or support from the world that gives a two state solution to the Palestinians - at least no a state that is within Israel proper or on its border. To reward Palestinians with a state would be like giving ISIS state. I don't understand how Ezra can express an opinion that he does not seem to have the backup to support?

I did not expect much, but Biden has exceeded expectuations, and has been a better President than President Obama. People complain about the lack of specifics or detail in these debates, but it never pays for anyone to go into depth in describing what they want to do because it just sets up a series of predicatable and loaded attacks. Whatever a Democrats says gets attacked on the basis of it being communism - meaning they want the rich to pay taxes for the country that made them rich, and to pay back the people they ripped off to do it. For Republicans they are always attacked for being fascists, and not caring about people and wanting to control people - and as we all have seen in the last 20 years these attacks always go to the personal and character attacks, and with Republicas all the things they are doing that are illegal, immoral, or stupid they always turn it around and blame the Democrats for doing. The thing is OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK AT THIS COUNTRY, and what you see is the rich getting disproportionately richer because of the political power they have ursurped from the rest of us, by financial tricks to steal money the way it is legal to do in our country that doesn't happen in other democracies around the world - at least as much until they get mixes up with American corporations and oligarchs. How is it that Americans have gone from being able to survive and prosper on one income families, raising their children, affording a house, addording education, affording health care to the precarious situation most of us are in all of our lives. That is not right, natural or immoral, but when one of our political parties - the other bought and sold parties whose job it is stand up for the people and the working person gets into power they are clipped at a certain level into doing nothing, and then Republicans get into power and it is tax cuts and screw resposiblity to the country while claiming patriotism and god-fearingness??? The US government initially funded itself and promoted industrialization with tariffs is my understanding. But can they get into a predicatable discussion about tariffs educating Americans without risking losing political respect and support. Is China's form of government better than ours in that it avoids this absurdity? Is our government broken and obsolete?

Kara Swisher is so smart and so well-informed, but she makes these judgements about people's humanity that, first - she cannot really know and is just opinionizing, and projecting her own emotions, but it seems like she is really expressing that these people are fearful people, and that is there intent.   89. The problem with what you've been laying out is that while as you say there are lots of good Democrats to choose from in a convention - all of them have some kind of poison pill. Be it Ukraine, or Israel, or Health Care, or Global Warming, will they appeal enough to get people out to vote against Trump? Some are black, and I don't think America would be so happy to vote for another black President that might not be as articulate or mainstream as Obama. And the Left who were not happy with Obama for screwing up Health Care would be whining and complaining. Then a Progressive like Gavin Newsom who I like, but face it has not done that much and as the one in 2000 and 2004 start marrying gay people and turning people off to the Democrats and help to get Bush elected. There is an argument for sticking with Biden, because when it comes down to it, those who will vote and can't stand Trump will be forced to vote for Biden - unless they vote nutty like RFKjr or Cornel West. Who knows? Will they take that risk?

I think we have in the Republican party a collection of very smart, very sociopathic double-talkers who can very articulately describe these little scenarios, sort of like how Republicans describe the national debt as a family's budget and credit card debt. When an above average upper class American lives to 80, the actuarial data say they will live much longer than the average lifespan of the average American. You can look at the actuarial data for why that is - they are out of the reach of most accidents, child mortality, toxic exposures, etc. I'm not denying there is something going on ... clearly there is. Does he have a physical or media problem or is he having a bad day. I've been in rooms that were hostile to me before and I got steamed and taken off my concentration and i am nowhere near as old as Biden. I just saw him talking to a room full of governors today and he had no problem. His problem is campaigning. It may be as simple that he is stressed out and not getting good sleep.

When it comes time to vote - whatever the workers think, a lot of time the CEO will weigh in and suggest to people who to vote for ... and it is always the most Republican or Conservative. This is taken up and influences the workers and has a chilling effect on workers - meaning that after something like that most workers will keep quiet if anything political is ever said at breaks, or lunch or on the job or even at offsites. So it is hard to tell where tech workers' loyalties are.

Not everybody got a raise or an adjustment for inflation - and meanwhile housing prices are not even included in inflation. I'm a Democrat and not likely to change, but the Democratic party has done virtually nothing but pretend to be an opposition party. They have not campaigned on any important issues to the people - housing, health care, education, child care, abortion. When finally someone did, Bernie Sanders, the Democratic party threw everything they had against him. Until people understand what a sham we are in - and it is hard because all those important looking and serious sounding news outlets set our framing day by day - and very few Americans have the time, energy or inclination to look very deeply into what is happening, and they don't know where to start if they wanted to. What they are saying in a different way is that the country is great for billionaires, and it gets better for them and all of us when billionaires to act free of laws, regulations and encumbrances - so everyone else ought to shut up and pretend to be happy. Some Democrats get it and are doing something, but it is mostly hidden at the local level and the media usually attacks them. For many Americans at or near the bottom they are sinking into real misery, comparable to slavery or even worse since at least they fed and housed the slaves.
