I think you are failing to acknowlege that the Democratic party in a national way has to have some way to deal with the Constitution and the fact that all the ... <expletive> fly-over states that are Republican have the marginal number of votes to oppress Progressive Democrats, which is what has forced Democrats to be so centrist, and be so scared of leaning Left past a certain point. The problems facing Progressive, and Democrats, are systemic, put there, kept there and cherished by the Right-Wing Nazis that run the smaller states and have banded together to make war on the larger more urban and diverse states - and are in fact winning. What this says to me is that our system just does not work and cannot self-correct.  So if Progressives want to be serious they have to go outside the system, break it, and then re-build it on a majority basis, at least Federally.  The US is gone at this point, not to be resuscitated. How long will the denial of this continue, and what will be done once people have it shoved in their faces daily that they have no power and are either enslaved like the blacks were, or cut-off like native Americans were.  How many will just take the easy way they are today, working for a living on the hope that they can make it to the end of their lives without having to risk their comfort.
