There is a bigtime global corporatist conspiracy to vilify and undercut democracy and people's movements using every possible way, and it will eventually include violence I would predict, so the fascists can take over and kill government as a means for social justice and representative democracy. It is really awful, and this is a full blooded counter-revolution that is happening all over the developed world.

Just to be Devil's advocate ... what do you think Bernie would think about the prospect of being President with a majority Republican House and/or Senate, and constantly getting even more flak than Obama did from the Republicans - because remember how Obama reached out and bent over backwards to cater to Republicans, and they spit in his face - and his policies are almost Republican. Bernie would get outright revolution. He would be in physical danger. I am for Bernie, and I see no one else close to him. The closest so far would be Gavin Newsom, but the country in part is full of far right wing idiots in the no-nothing areas, and they think they are right. It makes Bernie and almost tragic figure that even if he got elected and the public will was clear, could he get anything done? He is right ... he needs that political revolution, and I do not see it yet. It may happen too little too late.

A lot of people are saying something like "all the data shows Bernie would have won" Well, that is nice and I hope it could have been so, but it is not the DATA that matters but the interpretion of the data and the ALGORITHMS used to interpret it, and that is totally dependent on the interpreter and his decisions of what is important and what is not. In other words you can just point to the data, you cannot say there is any one interpretation. An interpretation can look right, and even be right, but that doesn't mean it can predict anything. I we/you want Bernie in the White House it is not as simple as saying he'll win hands down, you have to fight and support Bernie all the way, and demand that he overcome the unfairness of the status quo, and that is also unpredictable. What is totally predictable is if we all band together and make our voices heard loudly, clearly and determinedly we can break the unfair system we die under today and take the best ideas and assert our demands. But if people do not know, or cannot list and prioritize those demands it will just sound like a bunch of selfish people demanding only their agenda. People need to put selfishness on the back burner and think of what is fair and right for everyone. You cannot have socialism with anti-social citizens.

  5. I think a lot of young Lefties do not know how to put this in perspective. They see the Democratic party as being afraid of Bernie Sanders. Personally, I am a big supporter of Senator Bernie, and I see him pretty much as the only path to fix what is really wrong with the country. Biden is OK, but there are a few things wrong with him policy wise: 1. He is the corporate candidate from Delaware, the original corporate state. 2. He is very establishment. 3. His foot in mouth problem, including his twisted quote today about guns. 4. In the VP debates Biden just sucked, even against Ryan who he should have trounced. Biden would be just another temp Democrat because the public is mad at the Republicans. Biden would do nothing to really fix the problems of the country - he has said nothing about what is going on. He is some interest group's stealth candidate. That said, it is also important to remember the long term horrible stench of defeat of George McGovern, a far Left anti-War candidate in the 70's who lost by the worst landslide every in the history of the US. That is when Democrats started to change and become less Liberal, and did not defend or support Unions, and did not defend or extend the FDR legacy - they ran from it. That really pissed me off, but it is understandable, as is their embrace or at least testing Joe Biden. People say they will vote for Bernie, but if the Republican can fear-monger the socialist again, it may be another big defeat. So, try to understand and be patient with an old and rigid institution. If you want to changed the Democratic party, you have to support it and work hard. Not too many Liberals will really do that. They are great at slinging facts, they are great at calling names now that they match the Republicans on that score, but as the left election showed - Liberals are not great at showing up to vote - very low voter turnout in 2016. If Democrats are not going to show up we are going to get candidates like Biden or Clinton.

  7. First, I want Bernie and no one else. But, you have to understand that the problem with Bernie is his constituency, that is, the majority are all the people who have no understanding of the establishment and contempt for it. The Bernie voters are problematic for American establishment politics. That is just true. I think that problem is not so bad for me ... I met a lot of Bernie supporters and they were good and smart people, but they are pictured in the media as being minority and losers ... needy and ready to vote to "steal" the money from the billionaires. I think Bernie has to stop pandering to minorities, and start to appeal to the Trump voters. Pulling those people away from Republicans will have the greatest effect, and yet Bernie is able to be spun as a minority panderer in the media. Bernie needs advisors who can walk this thin line and broaden his appeal, and not lose the white vote that voted for Trump.

  8. If we are going to be presented with a more establishment or normal candidate, as much as I have doubts, I would think that Gavin Newsom would be a good President. He is very smart, he is tall, good-looking, clean cut and not afraid to stand up and say what he thinks. But, so was Obama. Obama was thought to be some kind of new FDR and he killed that idea right quick. I think Newsom is more sincere, and also more passionate and activist than Obama. If Bernie cannot or will not run, I'd like to see Newsom or Kamala Harris run or at least debate. Both are good, and in this mess both could make mincemeat of the Republicans in personal appearances and debates instead of playing it close to the vest like Obama and Hillary.
