It's a good point he mentions about the information technology. We didn't see large scale democracies until recent centuries with the printing press, telegraph, telephone, radio, TV, etc.
What we have now is the fighting back of the autocratic system that has found a way to cut off those benefits by "flooding the zone". This is an attempt by elites to re-establish empire and dictatorships when it is unnecessary, and just a burst of massive greed and ego. Look at the people with the biggest egos all trying to grab our money, or votes, or follows, or likes, and they will do or say anything they need to in order to accomplish that.
The core weapon humans have to fight this is communication, and if they can make that impossible, they will have complete and utter control over every aspect of our lives, even our children's lives and futures.

I'm interested in veganism and have read about it, and moved towards more plant-based foods in my life. The problem I think is that most vegans are motivated by feelings - and there is good and bad to that. If a way that you are eating makes you feel better, that is a compelling reason to continue eating that way and looking for markers in your individual experience to explain that and sort it out to make it better. The problem is that sometimes feelings lead us astray, like the proverbial lucky T-shirt of a person playing a sport. What we feel can sometimes turn out to be magical thinking, and certain magical thoughts can be common to people, moving into all areas of life.
I think there are lots of various questions to answer about how we eat, and we don't really have a lot of data on it, and people often lie as well. In the end we are all experiments in our own lives, and uncontrolled experiments at that. I feel that processed foods are a big problem. Junk foods are another. Pesticides and herbicides are another. The way animal products are made is another. GMO foods is another.
In general stay away from processed foods, junk foods, addictive foods ... all the stuff that people design with technology to manipulate people. Eat as natural as possible - and that is hard to do these days because we have gotten ourselves dependent on this toxic addictive food system full of chemicals, and then lies about it in the media, and we see everyone eating it, but we do not really see the disease and death from it.
Today everything is sort of half together with lies. From food, to politics, we are lied to for the profit and power of others that we never see. We are just seen as marks from other people in our society that should be our fellow citizens, but our system really has us all at war with each other - and we think that is normal.

I think things like religion are actual things by virtue of them being treated like actual things. There is a, maybe, a religious space in all our brains, and we don't know exactly what is it, but badmouthing religion and blaming every bad thing in history on it is retrograde & stupid. There is a thing where humans focus on fantasies to do some particular end in a vision. Usually if they can co-opt people to work with them there is a positive vision at least at the start, or a lie. We need to socialize and educate people to look past the games that our incompetence in social engineering has limited us to, and look long term with an eye towards creating an ever-changing, ever-growing, ever-expanding vision of the past, present and future and our places in it - together.
That is art, or a kind of art.
