I have problems with the idea of American exceptionalism, whatever the "F" it is supposed to mean, but it is not an idea that has gone away or turned into a joke.  There is something about America, if it is just its place geographically or historically.  We seem to be doing our best to make the concept repugnant, but the US and the idea of the USA has been a beacon to a lot of people in the last 100 years.  Today a lot of people I talk to that have emigrated here tell me they would rather go to other places but it is so easy to get into the USA.  No more melting pot, not more classless society, so it is valid for people to question this idea today, but relatively in the past the US has at least held up the ideals, even if we have not carried them out.  It is sad, I wish I could say the US was even more exceptional that we claimed, but in a predatory capitalist system the number one first lesson to learn is bait and switch, brand and exploit the brand.

  4. Can someone please tell me what Reality Asserts Itself is supposed to mean?  One thing about the Republicans is that they really know how to focus group things and name them well so that people know immediately what they are getting it.  WTF is wrong with Progressives?

  6. So, in other words it means that things will eventually get better.  The way the Left always bases its failures on hope is really depressing.  The Left needs a bit of that Trump "winning" and not just talking hopeful.

  7. What I am trying to point out in a implicit way is that "reality asserts itself" is a BS phrase meant to indicate that "truth will out" as Shakespeare wrote ... and it ain't true.  I get so disappointed in the illiterate ideas expressed on You-Tube and other internet discussion boards.
