The leaders of the Progressive movement seem to have as their goal creating a movement that is so offensive to the moderates and Conservatives that the Right is also mobilized to fight and offend the left ... thus keeping the people out of politics and bickering between themselves while the elites make off with all the loot and capture legislation and policy.
If you divide politics into two reasonable factions, right and left, they both have their constituents ... basically the right is for institutions and corporations and the left is for people. The left should limit its scope to human rights, social and economic justice issues. Quit trying to tell the military what to do and how to act, geo-political realities are not the purview of the left, except in special cases, such as Viet Nam in the 70's, and Central America in the 80's, and the Middle East in the 90's and on ... the Left can speak up, but it will end up fragmenting the society and it does no good.
We need both sides of the country to work together. They don't have to agree, but they need to balance their needs rationally against the other side. Right now the US is tilted way over the to side of the rich and corporations to the point that people are hurting, and the corporations are acting without constraint - and hurting the people and the environment.
