  1. from 1960 to 1990 we were building nuclear power plants and had coal and gas, YOU can not increase the power production by 30% with wind and solar. in the 1960's when heatwave would cause blackouts they'd ask local factories to shut down in order to allow the power to be re-directed to residential use, but then in the 70's we built nuclear power plants that solved the problem but as long as nuclear is demonized the grid will not be able to provide the power demands.
