  1. I don't know about the democratic West's attempt to stop the spread of Communism being a "dismal failure?" It was a line in the sand & possibly put enough of a spanner in the works for countries like India & even Italy & France, where the creed could have spread, to give them time to consider other options. I think it was a just war terribly fought but the ends justified the means.
