  7. I've just come here from watching this on TV & am yet to watch the upload all the way through but from the quote below it would seem this question is valid - Were there no instruments on the plane that told the crew that an engine had, like, disintegrated? I can't believe this?

  8. Rolls Royce should have got MUCH more PR & marketing out of this.... A highly calibrated & sophisticated engine sucks in half the volcanic output of Jakarta & starts up again.... WOW! 😗

  11. I'm a cab driver in Essex & have a few runs out to Heathrow airport. About 5 or 6 years ago they had one of these magnificent aircraft slung in an out of the way service apron at the back of the airport covered in bird poop & I distinctly remember moss growing on the airframe & around the windows.... I almost wept!

  13.  @212MPH  This was the early 2000's. He was getting a PPL for his son & maybe our syndicate was the best option for him. I know he took the plane down to Shoreham quite a bit.

  14.  @212MPH  It rings a distant bell. John Chick was the owner who I think was from traveling stock? One of the planes was G-CHIC Couple of times, climbing out on the North facing runway, I've seen the rivets on Provosts on the downwind for North Weald, the fields were situated too close for comfort! Do you fly?

  20. As a Brit as a nation we have a stab at some decent innovation & reasonable tech but I would say we & also the States were probably 20 or 30 years behind the Germans at the end of WW2.

  23. I think you mean United Airlines Flight 232? Part of the compressor blade broke off the tail mounted engine & severed the hydraulics. they did get it down but unfortunately a lot of people died...
