  1. There was an episode of "Dad's Army" where Godfrey relates his experiences being a stretcher bearer in WW1. He was actually a soldier in the conflict & was bayonetted in the hip/thigh which is why he walked with that limp. 👍

  4. I'm a minicab driver & had an 03 plate diesel Mondeo (115bhp) that did 360K & was still going strong when I sold it. My current car is a diesel Focus & that has coming up to 200K. I can honestly say in 4 years & that mileage I don't think the car has cost me £400 outside standard sevices & the usual tyres & brakes! I think it's the fact that the cars are used everyday + I only ever put BP fuel in them!
