Your test tested nothing. You were totally ignoring artillery basics like rotational speed of the Earth, wind drift, and even differences in air density at different altitudes. This is why in WW2 it took so long for any side to start making decent bomb sights and hitting their targets. Work out a decent bomb site (it will take more than a day), test the bomb sight, then when the sight works test your rods.

That iron meteorite is worth a pretty penny. Purer iron than we have here on Earth. Imagine if we had an ET enemy that wanted to get rid of humanity. If they picked a mid sized asteroid (or 3) and coated it (them) with a dark, not reflective, radar absorbent foam (like we use on our own stealth aircraft) then hurled it at us.. Our deep space radar wouldn't see it and neither would our telescopes. The only way we could know it was enroute would be to do an inventory of all known asteroids, plot their trajectories, then every few months (forever) check again and make sure they are all still discoverable and on the original trajectory. The day one is missing would be the time to panic. :) Of course just making the inventory is beyond our capabilities today. Even doing an inventory of just the NEOs is probably beyond us. So we are very vulnerable to both happenstance events and attacks.

Lazy Dogs from space (a few shipping containers full) could be a solution for a military base.

Q: What percentage of the 200,000 people picked 37 as their random number? If 37 is indeed truly a prime of half of all numbers, then does that not make it the equivalent of a 'dimensionless physical constant such as the 'fine structure constant' (about 1/137) and therefore fundamental to the construction of our Universe? If so, on an atomic and DNA coding basis all intelligent biological entities might be structurally 'forced' to favor 37. <I ignore the 69 spike because the survey was conducted in English speaking culture and 69 has been a number of sexual titilation amongst Western culture using Arabic numerals ever since Playboy magazine started using it as an expression of a specific sexual position and that concept went global and remains so today, but not so much in cultures using different numbering systems, which were not included in the survey shown even though they make up a larger segment of the planet's population. It would be interesting to see if a similar survey conducted in countries that use a variation of Sanskrit glyphs as numerals also produced 37 and 69 as a most common answer. >
