  1. WGN is totally misreading the event. Russia would love to stay in space. Howeever the sanctions give Russia a choice. Feed your people, or have a space agency with many programs. Feeding the people will take priority in the coming months. As the story notes much of the equipment on the ISS is made in other countries. This is because Russia lacks factories capable of producing the technology levels required. Much of Russia;s space equipment is made with imported components that Russia can't produce Those components will not be imported anymore. Putin's decision to ignore warnings of sanctions if he invaded Ukraine effectively sealed Russia off from space for at least the next 100 years. There will be no Russians on Mars. If a Russian ever does make it to the moon, he or she will probably be a paying guest on a Chinese space ship. Likewise Russia can forget any thoughts of asteroid mining. Russia will not be participating in that. Whtever Russia has in orbit now, that's it. There won't be anything more advanced than a Telestar launched by Russia in this century. Their new budget won't allow such frivolity.

  2. It is all about money. Thanks to the sanctions and the incredible waste of resources trying to conquer Ukraine Russia basically has no money for such frivolity as space exploration.

  3. LoL what possible profit would either India or China get out of joining forces with a penniless Russia? Noting also Russia's army will be so weak by the time Ukraine is done with it any mineral Resources near China that Russia has that China wants, China will be able to just take them and there won't be a durn thing Russia can do about it.
