A country's borders never last forever. No country existed forever. We should have the people of Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang and Hong Kong document how much self-determined independence they want and which external country relationships they want to have through a referendum under UN supervision. Apparently, against the alleged trend of the time, China has not managed to convince these regions over a period of more than 50 years that ethnic peoples will do better within a "stable China development"!?! It's not the world that keeps raising this issue of territorial integrity, it's the Chinese-occupied peoples! There is no common firm will among the more than a billion Chinese (except, perhaps, the sacred money religion).

@userwsyz Tell me: why didn't Taiwan airport border control simply send Pelosi back to her plane if the Beijing government didn't like the visit and Taiwanese prefer a peaceful life with China? Was allowing Pelosi the entrance an internal decision by China or not? Why is China angry at the US at all? Sure, I understand Chinese sanctions against Taiwan when they disobey Beijing orders. But using military intimidation to prevent the Taiwan region from trading with other nations is blatant blackmail like in the Israeli Palestina relationship!

@userwsyz China can only give the Taiwanese people the freedom they want, otherwise China is just creating the breeding ground for real terrorism. If we are talking about valuable things (assets), then please tell me what is allegedly considered to belong to China!?! Fair trade between groups consists of at least two parties negotiating with "I offer, I want". When former business partners don't get along for whatever reason anymore, going their separate ways is far better than waging a destructive war. In my opinion, a referendum within the sub-region that is leaving would still be the best idea that I have heard so far (compare UK and EU). Or are you indirectly proposing in your comment to completely wipe out the entire population of Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang and Hong Kong, because supposedly all the land belongs to China anyway? Do you want to use H-bombs? Yes, all life is then gone - dead matter remains. Should the EU have done the same with the UK ?!? Perhaps something like this could work in a region like Xinjiang to "secure" the coal for China. But how many Chinese peasants would you like to ship from China to Taiwan or Hong Kong to continue with the high-tech jobs?!? I've never seen these days anyone subtly write such a anti-social suggestion before! Thinking about wiping out an entire ethnic group because others claim to own their region is something I only know from Hitler's speeches!

@edmurks236 I don't recognize too much benefit in replying to the content of your comment (which was addressed directly to me about 20 minutes ago) if it is not visible to all panelists. This kind of "off-screen communication" had already been tried out by the somewhat old-fashioned East German Stasi... and delivered rather disappointing results from a general government perspective, right?

These circumstances simply remind me of the masked and "secret" Stasi behaviuor and its obliterating result for public governmental strukture given about 70 years ago to the GDR population.

@User-nw37 Destructive criticism is every fool's tool. Make a suggestion for improvement to represent the level of education. Then we can compare and talk about the pros and cons of different proposals... But so far my suggestion on UN-monitored referenda seems to be the best way to reduce geopolitical conflict ;) :)

@mslc22 When a region of an ethnic group wants to break away from a country, it is always an internal matter. The US has not threatened Taiwan. China threatened. The only thing I advocate is holding a referendum in Taiwan to find out and document how much independence the island actually wants. And everyone can decide for themselves who they want to listen to...

@userwsyz I am only advocating holding referendums in potentially breakaway regions to find out and document how much autonomy the ethnic groups in these areas actually want. Or does China perhaps fear that not all citizens are so happy with the uniformity dictated by Beijing?!?

@userwsyz Please do not forget the native tribes in the USA ;) :) And even after the war, many enemies have joined forces again, just in a new cooperation environment (North, South, UK). So why go to war if there is an opportunity for referendums and negotiations? Let all the brain-damaged idiots fight with each other as mercenaries who want to fight. But please do not annoy sensibly thinking regional ethnic groups so much that at the end of the day the oppressing power only has bred terrorists... It must be the task of a correspondingly large UN peacekeeping mission to guarantee Taiwan's self-determined independence according to their wishes, if an average mainland Chinese resident in Beijing is "too young, too simple, sometimes naive" to understand why he might have angered some Taiwanese.

@userwsyz Well, I heard otherwise. And even the Taiwanese majority party suggests otherwise. That is why I am proposing once again to hold a corresponding referendum. You can find my opinion on how ethnic group and regional voting should be carried out sensibly in the explanation of my YT playlist "Limits of Sovereignty and Dignity" an "Countries and Continents in a global context". Divide Taiwan if necessary, similar to India and the creation of Pakistan after the UK occupying forces left... From your calculation, simply give 10% of Taiwanese land to the ethnic Japanese. Or hold a referendum throughout the whole country in order to finally document the wish of the entire Taiwanese people in a clearly understandable way for all other countries.

@userwsyz Maybe some just don't get it... Of course, the expected outcome of a referendum on the desired level of sovereignty depends heavily on the size and location of the region in question. However, while you are attempting to highlight potential oppression, displacement and destruction between two ethnic groups, I am thinking rather in the light of an essential necessary preservation of diversity about the voluntary cooperation based on mutual appreciation as well as of the avoidance of those ethnic groups whose value systems have so far been difficult to understand for us.

@userwsyz And please, where does the region appear for natives, itinerant nomads, itinerant workers and similar ethnic groups in this "great law of national territory"? Only those who understand the obvious inadequacies of current laws can also make sensible suggestions for improvement.

@userwsyz Have the current laws prevented Yugoslavia from violently breaking up and creating new nations that now don't even have a friendly word for each other? And what about the current dispute between Serbia and the region/country of Kosovo? Finding the right balance is the trick!

@userwsyz After a territorial separation, different ethnic groups who find it difficult to get along with each other at least have a chance to lead a more peaceful life for themselves. - And aggressive border violations can be discovered more easily by third parties... Like in kindergarten: If two children are always arguing, then it is better to separate them in good time in order to identify the actual aggressor. At the very least, people need to be clear about what kind of government structure and levesl they want (Here we got: EU, Federal, State, Regionial and commune legislation and its executive). Otherwise, an oppressive supremacist government quickly will prescribe people what they can and cannot do. The old treaties signed with natives are often simply inappropriate to reflect the migratory and hunting traditions of those natives to preserve their cultural heritage. I think also about Australia. Compare ethnic groups with the monarch butterfly for example. There are groups of this species, with stay all the time in the same region. But there is also this Mexican group, which travels huge distances within three genations. Or a comparison with orcas: Sure, you can put them in a swimming pool, called reservat. But I still really hope that these animals will kill any "trainer" who dares to jump into their starvation prison. When will humans finally learn to interact with other living beings on a voluntary basis in a free, unrestricted environment? Don't you think that orcas would also do a few stupid tricks in the sea if they were offered attractive food there?!? Just imagine what else they could show us in their natural habitat! And I'm quite sure that even migrating butterflies still have more than one secret...

@userwsyz A thoughtful person from Turkey once said to me: Every people has exactly the government it deserves. 中天 is a Chinese propaganda machine spreading appeals in Taiwan... I have already expressed my interest in the Chinese decision on the airport's immigration border control. Now China is following with a military exercise and is taking revenge on Taiwan with a blockade... If Taiwan really did not receive any orders from China, then Pelosi's welcome to Taiwan was a purely internal Taiwanese decision of the Taiwan region. - So: China shut up! The Taiwanese government merely reflected the desire of the Taiwanese people by making a self-determined independent decision.

@JenHo-331 Let the ethnic groups living there decide for themselves through a fair referendum how much self-determined independence and how much belonging they want from and to other states. China probably fears losing a lot more than the US with the regions of Tibet, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan, doesn't it?

@userwsyz Apparently our ethnicity theme is now being changed from annihilation to expulsion, isn't it?!? Names like UN, EU, British Commonwealth, CIS, countries, federal states, regions are nothing more than an attempt to describe the current organizational form and sovereignty. But sovereignties change regularly, for example when the European states united to form the EU or when Yugoslavia fell apart. I already mentioned the region/country of Kosovo yesterday. What is your criterion according to which Serbia and Great Britain should be given the status of a sovereign country after they leave the former alliance, but not Kosovo? Now that Serbia is the official successor of Yugoslavia, do you want to expel all other ethnic groups living in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro from their home region (the former Yugoslavia)?!? The same applies to the former USSR! So, do you prefer to grant a region again more souvereignty about its self-determined independence like it happened with the UK or the former colonies of the British Commonwealth (India) - or do you prefer the complete disintegration of China ?!?
