Every fattening pig eats about 7 times its own weight in grain in its short lifetime. So as long as the meat price in the supermarket does not rise at the same rate as the flour and pasta prices, we only have a speculation problem caused by monopolies.

@moosesnWoop meat prices the same percentage like grain product prices ? Where do you go for shopping ?!? The same way like oil refineries make their bargain at the moment, the big food traders do, too. Both of them are the critical bottleneck of their branch.

@al85v As I already wrote: A bottleneck quite often causes the individual problem! - In most global (recycling) sub-processes, the respective "source" is merely the "product" of an upstream process. Just look at things holistically and not just misfocused.

@leme5639 Thank you for your complement. I thought labor costs might also be a big factor. But I'm not a farmer. I would therefore be pleased if you could break down what the main production costs in different percentages are made up of, in addition to the use of raw materials, energy and personnel in arable farming and animal husbandry.

@leme5639 That's why I asked about the agricultural production costs of arable farming and animal husbandry and what the main cost components are. The fact that a consumer then also has to pay for packaging, shipping, further processing, dealer fees, customs and taxes ... is clear even to someone with my level of education :)

@MSD Group Thank you for the interesting numbers! Could you please be more specific about your source(s) of information so I can look up the details myself?
