If there is an ancient region where people want to separate themselves from the "motherland" (or the occupier), then free elections should make that possible and (at least partially) enable separation and independence. Because the "governing country" will no longer be able to lead this group of people without violence under the neglected and long outdated regulations anyway... Many regions have published a demand for more independence [ J&K, Western Sahara, Tibet, Pyrenees, (Bavaria, Saxony ;) ... ] But a possible (at least partial) separation should be driven by the desire of an (ethnic/historical regional-language) majority to be polled in an independent electoral process, and not driven by extremists... (ballots in Basque, Cherokee, Tibetan, Swabian, Saxon...etc.)

@satheeshprabhu2577 I'm talking about a state transition like that from Yugoslavia to Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia... - or from Czechoslovakia to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Further divisions are always possible and sometimes just seem necessary. Terrorists are quite often the result of unresolved disputes between adversaries who are forced to work together. Do we only admire those "representatives of the people" whose administration leads to bloody conflicts? As soon as people honor again good suggestions from individuals - for fair dispute resolution and compare, discuss and choose respective improved regulations, we will be able to climb the next step on the evolution ladder.

@satheeshprabhu2577 I'm talking about protecting ethnic minorities who want to gain more self-governing independence within a country. In Germany, too, there are at least two states that have been striving for this for a long time, above all Saxony and Bavaria.

@satheeshprabhu2577 Those who don't get along, for whatever reason, had better break up to find peace again! Another piece of good advice might be to look honestly in the mirror and ask yourself what attitude you could change. That group, not representing the majority, is just one of many minority groupings - by definition of the word! What "more self-government independence" is supposed to mean must be determined in individual cases in negotiations. Example: In the Federal Republic of Germany, the individual federal states have the right to decide on the content of school education. If similar legislative delegations can settle a dispute, perhaps India should consider doing the same. Last but not least: I've heard also quite different stories about the aggression initiated by Hindu supremacist fundamentalists...
