The sole existence of (long-range) weapons is by no means a legitimation under international law for intervening militarily in another country. The invasion of the Donbass and Luhansk regions has been justified by the fact that this was at their request, in order to support their desire for more independent self-determination, already documented in writing by a referendum. According to the information available to me so far, an equivalent referendum in the regions of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and a number of other areas has so far neither been desired nor carried out by the majority of the population. This means that these newly addressed regions are undoubtedly and unrestrictedly part of the sovereign territory of Ukraine. Or has the information about corresponding referendums in Western propaganda so far only been suppressed? The sole declaration of independence by a few people from one area cannot replace a transparently conducted referendum. After all, according to Lavrov, what other country should have the legitimacy to invade Russia just because Russia has long-range weapons?!?

@global.citizens Yes why not? As soon as the people of a certain region want (a somewhat greater) independence, there is nothing wrong with holding a corresponding referendum to determine the degree of independence desired by the clear (2/3) majority of the population. Possibly such areas still want to remain (albeit sovereignly independent) in an equivalent to the "British Commonwealth". There are many possibilities for better cooperation, instead of just continuing the status quo compulsively to the point of total collapse (e.g. USSR). Closer cooperations with other countries could be organized respective to the EU.

@Hash849 In connection with this video clip, it is very pleasant to hear someone unequivocally say that Russia would rather be guided by dominance in the jungle than by international law. At least, this is how the attitude of Russia in this current environment has shown itself. The question is whether they will still find as many supporters worldwide as the USA. Of course, I know that international law is outdated and urgently needs updating and the addition of referendums on the coordinated separation of regions with all sovereignty from the old country. But most people understand the quite convincing reasons to replace jungle rules with laws and agreements.
