It would be nice if other countries such as Canada, New Zealand, EU members, South Korea, Japan or the US also extended offers of citizenship other than simply Australia and the UK to give Hong Kongers more options of exit and demonstrate to Xi Jinping and the Communist party in Beijing global resolve against this illegal act.

  5. Daniel Kyles Maybe not yet, but potentially soon. Many people in Hong Kong are fearful about what Chinese authorities might do to the city. It’s a very precarious and uncertain time.

  6. ChrisJ True, but your forgetting that they neglected and flouted an internationally recognized treaty to respect Hong Kong’s autonomy until 2047. So yes Hong Kong is a part of China, however they’re still bound to respect it’s autonomous status for 27 more years. As this point, they’re just ripping up international accords.
