  9. Robert Fawdon True, but remember it's going to be July 4th a time when America deserves recognition for the many things that it has done that has essentially, transformed the world and Americans can be proud of that, especially on this day when they can let it all out. Merica!!!!

Robert Fawdon True, and your right it is patriotic ego and Americans can frankly express it all that they want, it is July 4th and Americans are proud for all that their country has made on its birthday. And anyway it's the one day in this year where they can do so on a grand scale as they look back on the nation's historical path from independence to the present and all in between. Sorry, not trying to be arrogant just prideful- America deserves/and I think should to be recognized in whatever way anyone wants to express it for all that it has done.

  15. True, but it was the start of America's road to eventual independence so essentially 1776 is when it started. Maybe not from a historian's perspective, but set into motion a course of events which would inevitable lead to complete and utter freedom from Britain and the start of the United States as we know it.

  16. philippe dupont Still there are a lot of American inventions that we can take pride in among the biggest - planes, television, ARPANET, light bulb (wanna debate that one, because that's definitely historical and definitely American recognized and utilized the world over), photographic film, modern suspension bridge, and the mapping of the human genome which, as I recently learned, was finished in 1999/2000 a scientific milestone in all regards. I could go through many more, but those are most prominent within my mind and ones that I believe are most notable.

  17. philippe dupont True, But July 4th is the one day in the year when Americans can really be proud and patriotic about themselves and their country and all that it has produced, its the nation's birthday and for at least today this one day in the year we're allowed to have that mentality, America is awesome and it deserves to be recognized.
