As he cared about others to such an extent and actively tried to help alleviate others sufferings through programs, policies, and shedding a light on at a time when many others did not seem to do the same. He is a great man, who morally fought for the poor, the weak, and people without voices to change someting in tnis country and bridge it together from the violence of Vietnam to the violence of the inner cities amd was loved by both African Americans and Whites as well as Latinos and Asians. He went to see Cesar Chavez and break bread with him when he didnt have to but he did it because he believed thr causs Cesar was fignting for was of a moral importance and even joined a picket line, he went to personally see the starving children of the Mississippi Delta when politically it wasn't necessary but he did it because he wanted to see for himself and see if he could do something about it, he visited Indian reservations when he didnt have to because again he didnt have to because he wanted to help, he cared about others and loved them like a lot of people didnt in that time, especially politicians. He was loved by both races just look at the videos of both African Americans and Whites clapping and grabbing at him and trying to get at him. McCarthy didnt attract such a massive following nor do I believe Nixon could have if there was a general election between the two. He is a great individual, and one that will always be remembered at least by me.
