Comments by "Steve" (@Steve-ev6vx) on "Are Haitians Eating Pets?" video.
I had a bunch of Vietnamese and Cambodian friends in grade school in north Florida They came for the shrimping industry. There was definitely friction, my father owned a shrimp boat and it was hard competing with three families living on each boat and running them around the clock. No ones pets were eaten that I know of though.

@user-vi2dk1qz5f the thing about the ducks at the park, those are invasive domestic ducks and geese and they are actually a threat to wild native populations. Those are not pets and shouldn't even be there, but that is a whole nother story.

@jmurphy6767 I don't know about Chinese Americans, but in China they definitely eat both. The beat the dogs too before dispatching them because it is suppose to make them taste better. It's not uncommon to steal someones pet dog that you hate, beat the dog into submission and then eat it. It is an actual cultural problem.

@bob7975 I watched a 10 pound terrier get hung like a deer from a tree in the Philippines.

@x999uuu1 ADV China covers it on their podcast, they lived in China for over a decade and are huge YouTubers. It is not my story.

@savageinstitute9569 they would have to be wild geese, not feral domestics like found in most parks, for it to be illegal. Those geese need to be taken out, they compete with the wild geese and interbreed which is a problem for wild ducks and geese.

@altercount4554 Yes, but most Canada Geese and Mallard Ducks in parks are from domestic stock, they aren't wild migratory birds. Some one introduced farm ducks and geese to the park so that people have tame animals to feed. Wild migratory birds tend to shy away from people and won't eat out of your hand. The migrants shouldn't even be here, with that I agree. I am just passionate about waterfowl as I am an hunter, and those park ducks are bad for wild ducks. And no eating ducks like that won't spread disease anymore than any farm raised or pet ducks. People literally have those birds as pets, in their house.

@x999uuu1 Yeah, well you can look into it if you want. Maybe they just made it up, but supposedly there is a special holiday that they do it it on and it is a tradition with some people.

@davidgray8089 and no, I am not going back to find which podcast out of thousands that covered the dog festival.

@markrossow6303 yes, I am hunter, so I realize the only thing they are accomplishing is making the meat tougher. Ideally you don't want an adrenaline dump.

@SusCalvin down here, the land owners have no right of ownership over wildlife, the state owns the wildlife and you can't claim ownership until you legally harvest one. Land owners control access to hunting rights, but can't make up the rules of harvest. I don't know all the exact laws in Canada, but it is similar. You can't take a wild animal without a permit, even on your own property. When I hunted in Canada I had to pay the outfitter that paid the landowner and buy a provincial license and follow their laws.

I still eat turtles and pigeons. 😂

@SeanPat1001 ok, but be aware in some places you have to call in and get salvage permission to take a road kill. You can still get in trouble for that. Not that I have a problem with it, I picked up a deer last year that my neighbor hit.
1
@SeanPat1001 Ok, but people still need to know they can get in trouble for it in certain states.
1
@Nate-ho9tg There aren't any, as of yet anyway. There are videos of Haitians grilling what looks like some kinds of bird (claimed as a cat) and spit roasting a lamb that is being claimed to be a dog.
1
@SusCalvin They aren't "my rules," they are state and federal law. If you can't process an animal for consumption that is pretty sad, but normal for most city folks. You better hope you never half to do it to eat. Those grocery stores might not always be open.
1
@SusCalvin I have hunted in Canada, in some of the provinces that allow non resident hunters (looking at you Saskatchewan), and most of the laws are very similar to most of the US.
1
@SusCalvin Yes, that is the same way it is the US, except for on Indian Reservations. They are sovereign nations so I believe they are allowed to set their rules on their land. When I went to Canada I hunted deer in Alberta and Moose in NF, and the rules were very similar to down here. I agree, we wouldn't want to scale up hunting to replace farming. We did that early on in the US, and they banned market hunting because they killed all the animals. Where I live more deer and turkeys were brought in by sportsmen in mid 1900's to reestablish the populations. The deer in my part of the country were hunted to extinction to make leather belts for the industrial revolution in Europe.

@altercount4554 and the domesticated park ducks and geese are feral, so they are not vaccinated. Whether or not they are migratory doesn't matter if they are wild residents. But you need NO licenses to kill domestic ferals of any species, and that is what most park ducks geese are.
1
@altercount4554 yes, but there are domestic Canada Geese that look just like, and basically are Canada geese, you just don't need a permit because it isn't hunting. I have a flock of nine, I can eat one whenever I want.
1
@altercount4554 No, it isn't different on private land, the state owns the wildlife. I am talking about Canada geese that have been domesticated, not cracklings or wild resident geese. The ducks and geese at most parks came from a farmers stock. Domestic geese are more likely to have some brown and white geese in the flock, domestic mallards are 1/3 larger than wild mallards. Domestic mallards and Canada's are a threat to wild birds.
1
@altercount4554 a domestic Canada goose looks just like a wild one, unless it is a different color phase which doesn't occur naturally. You can't tell just by looking at one, but if you can walk up to it and feed it bread, it's probably a domestic. You don't need a permit to hunt wild boars in Florida or Texas. You need a permit to hunt them on public land, but that is just a permit to get into the punblic area.

@davidgray8089 it's ADV China and the China fact chaser channel that covered it. They are pretty big. It's Serpant ZA and that Lowai something or other.

@ShiniJenkins have you ever watched the channel I am referring? It's not just some random guys, they lived in China for a decade and married Chinese women. You are basically saying you can't believe any news you didn't witness happen first hand.
1
@ShiniJenkins They aren't right wing, or political at all. And that also goes both ways, if you watch a crazy leftoid video, you get recommend even more. I think you should really check the channel out before making those assumptions.
1
@ShiniJenkins I have been to China twice (well, Hong Kong) and have multiple Chinese friends that grew up there, my step mother is from the Philippines. It isn't like I am just blindly taking the word of some random person, but whatever, you can think whatever you want.
1
@ShiniJenkins My stepmother's childhood dog was eaten by her uncle's when they came to visit when she was about 12 (Philippines). Her dog's name was whitey and was a little white dog. She is still mad at her uncle's to this day. Are you going to tell me this first hand story from a relative isn't true?
