  1. The $300k houses are usually 1960-1970’s brick ranch cat-piss specials. I built an amazing home for $460k. I showed up to the job site constantly and went behind everything they did. They didn’t cut corners or use the cheapest materials. I’m in NC as well. The bad experiences will always be the loudest. My house would sell for $570k just over a year later. My neighbors paid $80-$90k more than I did. Negotiate and be the first build if you can. Waiting isn’t the answer. We all hoped for another 2008 and it never came.
