  5. There is some pressure to return treasures, but returned goods end up in private collections of recipient country and not in museums. So a lot of big museums think twice before returning stuff.

  10.  @litesp  Recent story of returning Benin bronze to owners. Germans badged to pressure and returned some, thinking the reassures will go to museum and will be available to wide public. But everything returned ended up in private collections, you can't even control, whether new owners one day will decide to sell it.

Popularity is bad, when you're a pirate. When the deed is done, they "bury" you with style and let you retire to Mallorca or some other not so shabby place.
