@DigitalDissident All of this happens when political corruption, foreign competition, outsourcing and greed come into play. This is the result of it all.

Especially Detroit when the auto industry went bust and losing 60% of it's population.

Gary being #20?? It is far worst of ones higher on that list.

And I wouldn't call it an oasis with all those homeless people 'and' all that gang graffiti all over.
7
Khalid Garvey X It too started the same time with gang culture in LA back in the '20s when the mobs came.
5
Hard to say really after seeing both Detroit and Philly, putting Detroit number four and Philly number one. I have to say Detroit is even worst since that city was the hardest hit when the auto industry went bust.
3
I would certainly take Miami over LA any day. Wasn't the case when they had the bloody drug wars back in the 1980's there in Miami when drug lords were smuggling cocaine into Miami from South America. I still remember it was it was on the news daily.
3
I say it is since it was the hardest hit of them all when the auto industry went bust and 60% of it's population fled else where.

@gazoo-pl4nx Politics did have a significant impact as well and they are 'everyones' politics BTW since it was their policies along with greed and foreign competition that caused all of this.
2
@ariancfc So is Gary.
2
It was a city of almost 2 million back in the 1960's. Now it's down to 700,000 - almost 1.3 million have left. That's over 60% of the population that disappeared. That is why so many homes, businesses, schools and even churches are abandoned, some as long as decades when the auto industry began it's downfall.

Detroit - when the auto industry went bust, that is what happened.
1
That is what greed, foreign competition, stupidity and corrupt politics with destructive policies have done to these once beautiful, thriving cities.
1
Only the major cities and few middle size towns, particularly ones adjacent to major cities such as Gary in Indiana.
1
@notimportant3914 Bush was also responsible for this as well since he too is a globalist and was a HUGE supporter of NAFTA by pushing CAFTA through Congress that esculated outsourcing of jobs. Obama continued that policy. However it all began back in the 1960's when foreign competition and political corruption go into play.
1
My native city Chicago was #9 and now the murder capital of the country, no thanks to the progressive liberal left that run that city.
1
Thanks to the Cuban-Americans who have been through communism while being in Cuba and are seeing how corrupt and dangerous the Democrat Party is now and know all too well the direction it is going and do not want to experience it ever again. I'm sure the ones who have been through it are passing it on to their children and grandchildren warning them of the dangers of socialism.

We're all living here in Allentown. And they're closing all the factories down...
1
Ever heard of drug money? That is how they buy such cars. No way anyone can purchase new cars working somewhere that pays minimum wage to $15 an hour.
1
@HairBilly Really put this into mind, think you can buy a car that's worth at least $15K and making between minimum wage ($7.25) and $15 an hour while paying rent/mortgage at $800 a mouth plus utilities, taxes and food? You then could only put down $2,000 at most and having car payments of at least $150 an month.
1
No thanks to mass political corruption, greed, stupidity and foreign competition.
1
Don't think I would put them in the top 5, though the aftermath of the bloody drug wars back in the 1980's dealt that city a black eye and some of that scar has remained.
1
All caused by corrupt politics, mostly the mayors and then state governors and local congressmen. Also caused by foreign competition, cities hit hardest are ones with the auto and steel industries. Not to mention greed on top of all of it, leading to outsourcing of the factory jobs to countries that use cheap slave labor.
1
@notimportant3914 I been through Cincinnati many times for about 20 years going to and from north-central Ohio to Florida and Georgia and seeing how much it has grown since. It looks like it has doubled in size since the '90s.

Depending on what country. Countries right now that are the best to live in are Poland, Finland, Hungary, and most other eastern European countries. Ones in western European have become very corrupt, expensive, wanting ever more socialism while ones in eastern Europe oppose it since they been through it.
1
How can anyone put anything else above Detroit? Philly comes the closest to Detroit.
1
It there a way to translate it into English so the rest of us can read it?
1
@CharlieBo313 Ever think of going to Alaska sometime? Anchorage has some ghettos.
1
Queens is twash.

It's only American cities.
