  2. One mall I saw that is almost complete dead is Golf Mill Mall in Niles, Ill when visiting friends last July. I was just just beyond shocked to see how practically empty it is, over 80% of the store spaces were empty and the food court only has two restaurants open, a Chinese and Japanese restaurant. I'm originally from the Chicago area and last time when I was at that mall was 1998 when I moved away and to Georgia. Back then it was still thriving and the food court was full with 10-12 restaurants from Taco Bell to Pizza to Subway to Chinese. Now they're all gone except the Chinese and Japanese ones.
